Five people, including a truck driver, were injured after a drinking water pipe fell off a moving truck and crashed into an oncoming car near Narthangudi in Tiruvarur district on Wednesday 2025-04-30.
The accident occurred on the Thanjavur–Nagapattinam highway in the Valangaiman block. The truck was transporting pipes from Namakkal to Tiruvarur when the driver reportedly applied sudden brakes, causing the loosely bound pipes to shift. One of the pipes pierced through the cabin and struck a car approaching from the opposite direction.
Four occupants of the car and the truck driver sustained injuries and were taken to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital.
