Truck with Amazon merchandise robbed at night in daring highway heist on NH44 in MP

In a daring robbery on NH44 on the intervening night of 16th and 17th September 2025, a container truck travelling from Delhi to Nagpur with parcels from Amazon was robbed at gunpoint between Sagar and Narsinghpur in Madhya Pradesh. Fortunately, the driver of the container truck, although gagged and beaten up was left alive to narrate the scary tale. To avoid leaving behind any evidences, drivers and helpers of trucks getting robbed are normally not left alive.

The dacoits who were also driving in a container truck ahead of the affected truck braked on a desolate stretch of the four lane NH44 at around 2 am to block the truck behind. The truck carrying merchandise from Amazon had to abruptly stop, too. Four of the robbers armed with firearms boarded the victim's truck, gagged him, and drove along for quite a distance. The robbers stopped somewhere, cut open the metal body of the container truck and shifted the entire consignment to their own container truck.
The entire episode was captured on cameras fitted in the victim's truck.

Now visualize yourself in a similar situation in one (or even two, three or more) passenger cars with each carrying one or more female co-passenger(s) and more male members in each car (instead of the lone container with Amazon's merchandise)!
People plan road trips in passenger cars with family members late in the night supposedly to cover distances faster. They ask for suggestions from other netizens who are comfortably plonked on sofa or bed in the safety of their own homes 'if its safe to drive at night'. Some wouldn't even care to ask because they have supposedly driven desolate stretches late in the night throughout their life and are well versed with the topography of their route. These are the same people who prefer to browse Ggl to walk down to the washroom from their bedroom. It's utter stupidity to think that as a regular gym goer you will be able to physically ward off armed criminals.

Just because there are no known instances of highway heists or worse still crimes with women in a particular geography, doesn't mean that nothing untoward will happen to you. God forbid, if something terrible happens during a planned night drive, will those social media warriors come to your rescue?

There are are chapri groups whose members/ followers engage in planned night drives solo with family or in a group. God forbid, if one or more cars with ladies in them are  stopped by the criminals. The other unaffected 'friendly' cars in the convoy will surely vanish from the scene of crime.

Content courtesy: MP Tak

Conclusion: Whenever on the road, always remain HIGH ON COGNITION. More importantly, take it or leave it, NO PLANNED NIGHT DRIVING. If your family izzat is robbed for your own stupidity, you will not be able to sleep in peace for the rest of your life.

Bangalore to Ranchi solo road trip via Bhadrachalam, Jeypore, Sundargarh by Abhishek Bhaumik in September 2025

Bangalore to Ranchi via Bhadrachalam, Sukma, Jeypore, Sundargarh, Simdega solo drive in September 2025 .....

I don't recommend to take this route, nevertheless sharing my experience. I would not do it with family though.

Day 1 - Bangalore - Hyd ORR - Khammam- Bhadrachalam: Not much to write about. Started at 4.45 reached Bhadrachalam at 5.30 evening. Did darshan at temple and went to sleep by 9.30 pm. Roads are good throughout. After Khammam its a 2 lane slow progress with lots of bike and cows. Total Distance 870km tolls approx 1200

Day 2 - Bhadrachalam - Sukma - Malkangiri -Jeypore - Nuapada - Saraipalli - Raigarh -Sundargarh: I had some history behind going to Saraipalli and Raigarh. By all means don't take this detour but directly move towards Sambalpur once you cross Nuapada. Started at 5 am from Bhadrachalam. Before entering Konta my car was thouroughly checked and questions asked about my profession, where I am travelling to and so on. This was the time when anti maoist operation was at peak in Sukma region. From Konta till Sukma there is nothing but CRPF camps. Its all concrete roads with few bus and truck traffic. Also, good number of bikes can be seen. The route runs throughout Chattisgarh Orissa border and pretty scenic. From Sukma to Malkangiri is a small road with village kids asking money to pass through. ₹10 does the trick. Post Malkangiri till Jeypore-Ampani is busy 2 lane roads with average speeds of 50-60. Post Ampani you enter the most deserted stretch of Biju Expressway till Naupada (186 km) with few fuel stations, no facilities, poor network and highway being treated as backyard of village houses. This stretch can be done in 2.5 hrs but needs very cautious driving because of local bikers. Hardly crossed 4 wheelers across this stretch, no truck traffic. From Naupada onwards its back to civilization. The road goes straight to Sambalpur after merging on Mumbai Kolkata national highway (NH53). I took detour via Saraipalli and Raigarh and reached Sundargarh by 8.30 pm. Not at all recommended. You can reach 2 hrs earlier driving via Sambalpur. Total distance 800 km and no tolls.

Day 3 - Sundargarh - Simdega - Ranchi: 4.5 hrs drive. Don't follow google but take route via Simdega. No tolls. Distance 240 kms.

Overall it was fun with little adventure especially on day 2. The region is still 10-15 yrs behind with little mobile network in deserted stretches. But in case one likes exploring India, this is a great stretch to explore and appreciate the comforts of life we live in today's world.

MyWB20Z2223 was ready for a hassle free Durga Puja 2025 pandal hopping throughout Kolkata by the afternoon of Sosthi, viz. 2025-09-28. The Exide battery was fully recharged for about 18 hours at an Indian Roadie Preferred Battery Shop.
As a token of appreciation for recommending the business outlet to numerous fellow Indian Roadie followers without any financial favours for self, I was awarded with FREE home service. I had to incur a small payout only for the overnight charging.
Hopefully, you too had a niggles free Durga Puja outing.
