A multi-axle Scania AC sleeper bus belonging to Kaveri Travels on its routine run with 40 passengers from Hyderabad to Bangalore (590 kms) went up in flames at around 3.00 am on Friday 2025-10-24 after it hit a motorcycle at Chinnatekur village in Kallur mandal, near Kurnool on NH44. Till last report received on Friday 2025-10-24 evening, 20 people were charred to death. The motorcyclist died, too.
The bus rammed into a motorcycle which got dragged under it, hitting the fuel tank and puncturing it. This caused an immediate explosion and the flames rapidly spread throughout the vehicle. The electrically operated main entry/ exit door got jammed immediately after the fire broke out. Both drivers fled the scene while panicking passengers managed to break down some of the toughened glass windows to escape the inferno.
