Putulgram, a village in Purba Bardhaman is engaged in wooden owl dolls

While driving towards Katwa in Purba Bardhaman district in West Bengal, there's a small place named Agradwip (which also has a railway station). 

About 2 kms from the railway station there's a small village named Putulgram or Notungram. The entire village is engaged in hand carving of dolls of various sizes shaped as owls🦉 chiseled from wooden blocks. 

It's said that the village is engaged in the trade for over 200 years. 

The exquisite carvings in various colours are a sight to behold. It's a must visit location. 

The driving time from the intersection of NH16 and NH19 in the outskirts of Kolkata would be a maximum of 2.5 hrs.

Roads from Sausar till Narsinghpur are in worst condition with major potholes. Hence we suggest taking Chhindwara city route towards Seoni to avoid Chhindwara - Narsingpur road or go straight Nagpur to Seoni via NH44 with diversion from Khawasa towards Katangi to Seoni.

We travelled to Bangalore from Lucknow on 25th Sep 2020 via Jabalpur Nagpur Hyderabad route and now after 2 weeks of stay at Bangalore we are returning to our hometown on 10th Oct 2020. Awesome daytime view from Bangalore to Nagpur with some helpful information asked by our viewers. We stayed overnight again at Le Meridian due to better sanitization and also they allowed our pet on extra payment of Rs. 1500 + tax. Overall a nice journey which took 17 hours straight with all pitstops. While coming to Bangalore, we calculated toll charges based on my phone messages however this time downloaded the FastTag statement and it has major difference hence please be informed as details mentioned below.

After a good stay at Le Meridien, Nagpur, we continued our journey towards Lucknow. This time we went through Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Sagar, Jhansi, Kanpur route. Ban on plying of BSlV diesel vehicles in Delhi removed wef 2022-11-06

With improved air quality in Delhi, panel lifts Stage IV measures under GRAP on 2022-11-06. 

With Delhi's air quality index (AQI) improving to ‘very poor’ category, the Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region (NCR) lifted the stage IV measures under GRAP. GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) is an emergency plan to prevent further deterioration of air quality. 

The decision to remove the ban on plying of non-BS VI diesel-run light motor vehicles in Delhi-NCR and entry of trucks into the capital, imposed under the final stage of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), was taken at a review meeting on Sunday. The curbs had been put in place three days ago in the wake of the pollution levels reaching severe category in the region. 

The panel cited forecasts that said air quality will remain in the same category for the next few days. All measures until only Stage III will apply across NCR from now.

Clay lamps made and sold in Chaltaberia

Drive for about 40 minutes from the vicinity of NSCBI Airport in Kolkata via Jessore Road, cross Duttapukur and reach Chaltaberia. Immediately after crossing Chaltaberia one can't miss the shops of local potters lining both sides of the road selling clay lamps, coloured images of Laxmi, Ganesh and other gods and goddesses. 

The price at which they sell is far lesser than in Kolkata.

Indian Roadie Drive For Food to Putiram on 2022-10-17 with Nikhilesh Roy

Indian Roadie Nikhilesh Roy and I drove to the plumbing accessories hub (market) in College Street, North Kolkata on 2022-10-17 afternoon for a lot of work. By evening we were terribly hungry. Nikhilesh suggested that we should walk down to have Singara (samosa), Kachuri (that's how we Bengalis pronounce Kachori) with thick Daal, Darbesh (a special sweet) and Rasogolla at the age old mithai shop Putiram on Surya Sen Street. 

After more than two decades I entered the shop to have Kachuri and Daal. I was disappointed. Local shops in predominantly Bengali localities make far tastier Kachuris. The Rasogolla and Darbesh were nothing great either ☹️

BMW crash near Sultanpur on Purvanchal Expressway at 230 kmph on 2022-10-14

‘Chaaro marenge,’ said victims on Facebook Live just before they died chasing 300kmph in BMW. 

Four people died lost their lives when a BMW being driven at 230 kmph collided with a container truck on the Purvanchal Expressway near Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Friday 2022-10-14. 

A video of the four victims speeding the BMW had gone viral on social media. The victims were chasing 300 kmph on Facebook Live when the incident happened. 

The video started with one of the victims saying “charo marenge”. The victims were chasing 300 kmph and had reached 230 kmph when the video stopped. 

Victims can be seen and heard enjoying the ride and encouraging the driver to speed up to chase 300 kmph speed. 

The portion of the road where the accident took place had sunk due to heavy rain recently. 

Four of the victims have been identified as 35-year-old Dr. Anand Prakash from Dehri, 35-year-old Akhilesh Singh and 37-year-old Deepak Kumar both from Aurangabad district, Bhola Khushwa from Rohtas district in Bihar.  

Those who lost their lives: 

Deepak Anand was a resident of Shivpur Dehri village of Bihar's Aurangabad. He was the son-in-law of Dehri's famous Dr. Nirmal. Deepak was married to Dr. Nirmal's niece Anita. Deepak was an engineer by profession and has left behind two children.

Akhilesh Singh was the son of Vinay Kumar Singh, a resident of Mahsi village of Obra, Aurangabad. Vinay Kumar Singh worked in the PHD department. Later, after retiring, Akhilesh got his father's job.

Dr Anand Prakash was married last year in Aurangabad district. The father of the deceased, Dr. Nirmal Kumar is known as a well-known doctor in the area. He was the leader of Janata Dal United (JDU). Deepal was in-charge of the Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency from JDU. The deceased was the youngest of the two brothers.

Dr Anand Prakash's relative Bhola Khushwaha, whose village is Balbhadrapur in Rohtas district, also died in the car crash. Bhola was the only child of his parents and he also had a 4-year-old son. He was a businessman by profession.
