Always Happy To Evict rogues from Indian Roadie

Indian Roadie was understandably the 4th (might be the 5th, too) truly national forum in 'road travel and automobiles' domain in India floated in May 2013.
It was undoubtedly the 1st such forum in West Bengal or anywhere in eastern India.

I was 'Happy To Evict' over a hundred know-it-all disruption creators from WB itself between 2015 and 2016 and many more in the subsequent years. Those evicted from WB ganged up against me. After being evicted, the ex-IndianRoadie rogues kept forming groups, literally engaged themselves in fist fights and drunken brawls during their very 'friendly' group drives and GTGs and kept forming one group after the other! The fabled 'Bengali Brotherhood' (where Durga Puja/ Kali Puja/ Saraswati Puja organizing committees are known to keep multiplying like amoeba every season) reared its ugly head in the 'road travel and automobiles' domain in social media, with the left hand not knowing the objectives of the right hand.

Although WB has the lowest sales of cars in value terms, the state and its capital has the highest number of me-too groups almost entirely comprising of Bengalis.
After intensely scanning FB, it has been found that ever since I started sanitizing Indian Roadie since 2015, atleast 14 more me-too groups have sprung up in West Bengal itself upto end March 2023. I foresee the birth of 2 - 3 or more FB groups from WB in the same domain by the end of December 2023, because the writing on the wall is large and clear.

IndianRoadie was formed with clearly defined objectives. The understanding is very clear  .... if a roadie from Palakkad (KL) or Sangli (MH) or Bangalore or Kolkata while driving to Amritsar (PB) or Khammam (TS) needs assistance, he will try to find a helpful Indian and not a Malayali, Marathi, Bengali, or whatever. IndianRoadie will always work for 'Class Over Mass' and 'Quality Over Quantity'.

While members/ followers in IndianRoadie continue to earn from whichever profession they are engaged in and also by moonlighting, I am fully involved physically, mentally and financially in IndianRoadie and the host of associated forums. I belong to a functional area where how I performed as recent as yesterday has fractional significance to the results I generate tomorrow. Therefore, to maintain sanctity and a high degree of professionalism, I will never hesitate to keep my initiatives squeaking clean and sanitized at any point of time.

And finally don't try to lecture me on democracy at my expense while you keep developing blisters without any provocation.

Some might feel that I am trying to address this communication to them. If that's how they feel, they are so right.

Respond by commenting AGREE or DON'T AGREE. Just responding with 'like' might not be enough.
I am waiting.

Are you comfortable handing over your car for valet parking

You drive into a hotel/ restaurant/ banquet/ mall/ multiplex/ housing complex in your loved ride (irrespective of the make or model).
You are asked to alight from the car since there's a system of 'valet parking' in vogue at that premises.
- Are you comfortable/ uncomfortable with valet parking?
- If yes, why? If not comfortable, why?
- If you are not comfortable with valet parking, what do you do them?
- Any positive or negative experiences so far with valet parking?
- Do you hand over your car keys for valet parking inspite of not being comfortable simply because others might taunt you?

Let's discuss in details.
* Valet Parking
* Strictly No Valet Parking for me

Strictly no valet parking for me

I don't allow valet parking of my car in any restaurant, hotel and/or banquets. I can recall at least 2 instances where I have returned home without attending the functions even after reaching the venues. I don't care who invited me for the function. I will never leave an integral member of my family in the hands of any 'Tommy'!
The persons who invited me have expensive cars but it's to show off. They will never understand my sentiments.
I have been told by common acquaintances that one of them whose function I didn't attend had quipped that I behave as if my car would have melted if the valet parking driver would have sat in my seat!
I don't fight with pigs to dirty myself!
BTW, I will do the same again even if it means returning home without meeting the person who invited me.
Fellow roadies, speak out. I want to hear your take on the issue and/or your experience(s).

4 people seriously injured. Fortunately, no casualties.
Media reports as usual pointed its fingers at the truck saying that its brakes had failed.

Perils of Planned Night Driving

I, Deep Banerjee (Founder - IndianRoadie and AssociatedForumsOfIndianRoadie) as a responsible road travel and automobile lover since early 1970s keep stressing on No Planned Night Driving
I do not allow any discussions on such maverick acts in my initiatives.

For the uninitiated, Indian Roadie was founded by me with specific objectives in mind in May 2013. It was the 4th or 5th of its kind social media forum in the #RoadTravelAndAutomobiles domain in India and 1st of its kind in West Bengal or anywhere in Eastern India.

There are 'me too' social media forums which actually promote 'planned night driving'. Members drive to score social media likes.

The utterly stupid reasonings of people who drive like zombies at night are the same, viz.:
- roads are comparatively empty at night.
- one can cover greater distances at night.
- familiar highway.
- breakdowns happen during the day, too.
- accidents can happen during the day, too.
- rapes and molestations happen during the day, too.
- except self, every other road user is supposedly an idiot.
- etc, etc, etc.

If the attached video doesn't wake up people from their slumber, what will 🤔.

It's only the irresponsible mavericks who after watching the flick will quip that accidents can happen to others only.

The accompanying video can be from any country. There's no point blaming the vehicle which was tail-ended because it didn't have any taillights.

Always remain 'High On Cognition'.

P0420 OBD2 code indicates that the efficiency of the catalyst system is below the threshold

How does the P0420 OBD code affect the performance of the car?

The P0420 OBD2 code indicates that the efficiency of the catalyst system is below the threshold. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you have a bad catalytic converter.

The code will happen if the upstream and downstream oxygen sensors indicate similar readings. They won’t match if the catalyst system is within a proper threshold.

The car’s performance is only affected if the catalytic converter is extremely clogged, reducing fuel efficiency. You’ll feel it because it will be as if you have a clogged fuel filter, and the engine will tend to stall out under heavy loads.

IR GTG 2023-04-15 @ Taj City Centre Newtown - Kinshuk Arya

In mid November 2022, Kinshuk Arya and Sneha Chandrasekhar Arya of Pune had crossed Kolkata during the penultimate stage of their epic 8600 kms drive with 6 yrs old daughter and 5 months old son. The details of their drive is already there in this forum.
Although I was aware of their movements, I missed the opportunity of meeting them because they were in a hurry to return to their base station, viz. Pune. During a subsequent telecon Kinshuk had promised to return to Kolkata soon.
The couple were back to Kolkata with the munchkins for the H.O.G East meet on 14th and 15th April 2023 even while Kolkata was going through an unprecedented heat wave. I missed the opportunity to meet the munchkins and Sneha once again but fortunately managed to meet up with Kinshuk at their hotel in City Centre 2 Annexe on 2023-04-15 afternoon.
It was a nice Indian Roadie GTG lasting for about an hour.

Vembanad Lake, Kerala - Must visit

Vembanad Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Kerala and is the longest in the country. Spanning an area of 230 square kilometers, the lake is located in Alappuzha district and stretches from Kochi in the north to Kuttanad in the south. The lake is fed by several rivers and canals, including the Meenachil, Manimala and Pamba, and it drains into the Arabian Sea through a network of backwaters.

The lake is a major tourist attraction in Kerala and is popular for its scenic beauty and diverse ecosystem. The annual Nehru Trophy Boat Race is a major cultural event in Kerala and attracts tourists from all over the world to cheer and rejoice on the banks of the lake. A boat ride while in Kumarakom, therefore, is a must do. It was suggested to me that the State Transport Water Development boats that ply every hour between Kumarakom and Muhamma would be a good and cheap way to enjoy the lake and the backwaters.

The Bay Island Driftwood Museum is the outcome of the passion and vision of Raji Punnose. Various fossilised rosewood driftwood depicting animals, birds, serpants, humans and, even, Jesus Christ is part of the precious collection. Encomiums, recognition and awards have been heaped on Raji, who conducts you around enthusiastically with narrations and commentary non-stop.

For the foodies there are any number of restaurants and hotels serving local delicacies, including sweet toddy. Kilikoodu is one of the favourites in the area, going by the patronage.
