Road trip from Durgapur to Varanasi by Sudeep Banerjee in Hyundai i20 in Decembe

Road trip by Indian Roadie Sudip Banerjee from Durgapur to Varanasi (Durgapur_Varanasi) and back

Date of Travel: 24th Dec, 25th Dec, 26th December 2021. 

Route Taken: Durgapur - Asansol - Dhanbad - Bagodar - Barhi - Chauparan - Dobhi - Sherghati - Aurangabad - Sasaram - Varansi. 

Toatl Distance (to and fro): 1028 Kms. 

Vehicle: Hyundai I20 (1.2L Petrol-Manual)

Fuel Economy : 19.8 Kmpl

Day-1 (24th Dec) Durgapur to Varanasi (512 Kms)

Distance Travelled: 512 Kms

Total Time taken: 11.5 Hrs (05:30AM to 5 PM)

Road Conditions are moderate to excellent with lots of diversions due to ongoing road widening majorly in UP & Bihar. Excellent strech between Dhanbad and Bagodar.

Onwardd drive included 3 breaks, viz. Breakfast at Bagodar (1hr 10 Mins), Lunch at Aurangabad (1 Hrs), Evening Tea before Varansi entry.

Day-2 (25th Dec) Varanasi Local Sightseeing including Ganga Arati and Boat Ride. Didn't dare to take out my own car in the congested and narrow roads of Varanasi. 

Day-3 (26th Dec) Varanasi - Sarnath - Durgapur (512 Kms)

Distance Travelled: 517 Kms. 

Total Time taken: 11.5Hrs (7:30 AM to 11 PM). 

Visited Sarnath in early morning. Started from Sarnath at 10:30 AM. reached Durgapur around 10:45 PM. The return route was the same as the oneards route. 

Refuelling done at Reliance Petrol Pump before NH entry from Varanasi while coming from Sarnath. 

Breakfast at Sarnath, Lunch at Sasaram, Dinner at Asansol (Hindustan Dhaba).

Nagpur - Noida road trip of 1100 kms in 15 hrs in November 2016 by Hyundai i20 petrol

Roadie Shekhar Patil drove Nagpur to Noida (Nagpur-Noida) on the first Sunday of November 2016 in 15 hours in his Hyundai i20 petrol.
Total distance: 1100 kms.
Route: Nagpur - Chindwara - Sagar - Jhaṅsi - Gwalior - Morena - Agra - Delhi.
Took off from Nagpur - Betul road at Saoner.
Great road except Jhansi - Gwalior section which NHAI has possibly forgotten if it exists.
Nagpur - Betul toll road, according to him is one of the best stretches built by NHAI so far. He found it better then Yamuna Expressway.
Apparently this route has least facilities for highway users. One has to find a neat and clean dhaba for food with some difficulty. For restrooms, gas stations are the best bet.
However, there were good decent restaurants on Sagar Bypass and Lalitpur Bypass.

Faulty airbags in Hyundai i20 did not activate even after severe crash on 2017-02-07

" On 7th February 2017 my brother met with a major accident in Noida at 60km/hr after ramming into a truck.

Impact was such that the roof of the car got dismantled after a left side collision.

The car was an Hyundai i20 Sportz 2013 model having 2 airbags in front.
After the crash none of the airbags got activated. If the airbags functioned properly, it could have saved my brother from a head injury and a critical condition he is currently in.

What I want is:

1 proper explanation for failure of airbags in the Hyundai i20.
2 immediate redressal and compensation.

I believed that Hyundai was a step ahead in terms of safety and features in this segment.
My trust has been lost.

Attention of Takata Corporation, the manufacturers of the airbags in Hyundai cars has also been drawn.

Airbags not opening up after a collision of this nature can't be justified at all.
Hyundai India should remain with the family of the victim during such distressing times.
