A passenger bus travelling from Duttapukur, North 24 Parganas district to Mayapur, Nadia district, West Bengal overturned and fell in a ditch near Amdanga on NH34 at 8.30am on Sunday 2017-02-12.
Two passengers died on the spot and over 30 were injured.
Police arrived on the spot soon after the accident. However, they were showered with heavy brickbats by the locals.
What ensured was unprecedented traffic jam and total mayhem for quite some time on NH34. Traffic was diverted via Jessore Road and Kalyani Expressway.
An Indian Roadie fan driving for urgent work towards Ranaghat had to return to Kolkata after aborting the onward journey.
