Ashwani Shaini of Surendranagar had to struggle for 12 long years to get his preferred 0001 registration number for his car. In spite of the court giving a favourable judgement the authorities refused to obey the order of the court.
He drove his Mahindra XUV500 with a temporary registration number for 12 years. However, when the authorities finally relented, the XUV500 was already very old. In August 2023 when the 0001 number was allotted he bought a new KIA car to sport his favourite number.
