Elephant charged at tourist trying to take photo of elephant in Bandipur

A viral video from Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka has sparked outrage over tourist behaviour in wildlife zones. The clip, posted on Instagram by Daniel Osorio on 2025-08-10, shows an elephant charging at a man who had reportedly tried to take a photo.

In his caption, Osorio wrote, “Elephant Charges Man in Bandipur Reserve After He Tried to Take a Photo. I filmed this scene on my phone while driving through Bandipur Tiger Reserve, on the road from Tamil Nadu to Karnataka. The elephant was calmly eating carrots it had picked up from a passing truck, while a long line of cars patiently waited for it to finish. According to the witness who was in the white car seen in the video, the man involved had used a camera with a flash to take a close-up photo of the elephant. The sudden burst of light startled the animal, triggering the charge. Signs along this road clearly state that visitors must remain inside their vehicles. This incident is a strong reminder to follow the rules of wildlife reserves and to let trained authorities — not people on foot — handle situations like this.”

Mishap And Calamity 

My fetish for keeping the engine bay of my 2011 VW Vento is unbeatable

After a bout of viral fever which lasted for about 7 days, I was feeling a bit better on 2025-08-07 afternoon. Although I was feeling extremely weak, the first task I did was unlocked the garage to clean up the engine bay of my VW Vento to prevent rats from chewing up wirings of my red boy! 

Also laid out two cakes of HIT for the devils to feast on later in the night. I have no compassion for wellbeing of rodents. 

Please make it a habit to open the bonnet of your car engine frequently and clean up the engine.

Indian Roadie Madhav Giduturi has been travelling frequently between Bangalore & Vizag since Covid. There has been significant improvement in the roads in the past 5 years. Specially Chittor to Naidupeta stretch is a big relief.

On 2025-08-02 he drove from Bangalore to Vizag and came across BPCL Karedu (COCO filling station) between Kavali and Ongole in Andhra Pradesh, right after Ulavapadu on NH16. There are facilities for roadies to refresh, rest and restart.

It has ample parking space, clean washrooms, showers, and interestingly a dormitory as well. There is a space to cook as well. The place is well secured. This is something every passionate roadie wants to see in india to boost caravan tourism. A roadie would  prefer such amenities right on the highway while travelling on long journeys.

Even a truck driver's safety is in jeopardy at night on a major NH

This is exactly why we in Indian Roadie (and the Associated Forums Of Indian Roadie)  keep stressing about No Planned Night Driving. Even a truck driver's safety is in jeopardy at night and that too at a toll plaza on a busy national highway in Rajasthan. 

Incident occurred in Rajasthan in June 2025. 

Massive pile-up on Pune-Mumbai Expressway on 2025-07-26

A container truck supposedly had a brake failure on the Mumbai bound flank of Pune-Mumbai Expressway, just after the Khopoli Exit which resulted in a 22 vehicle pile up at around 3 pm on Saturday 2025-07-26. A 58 year old lady lost her life and several people were injured. The police and ambulance swung into action shortly after the mishap. 

It's our earnest request to media and police not to make this an open & shut case by citing brake failure as the cause for the incident! 

The media is reporting that the brakes of the container truck driven by a 29 years old driver from UP had failed. What makes them so sure that the truck driver was not another kaddu biriyani cook cum vlogger whose aspiration was to build a house worth ₹2 crores by posting nonsensical videos on social media 😡 

It's an earnest appeal to authorities (including MORTH)  by Indian Roadie and Maharashtra Roadie to Ban_CV_Driver_Vloggers throughout India. Since the past 3 - 4 years there are too many incidents of trucks and buses rear ending other stationary or moving vehicles.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati Researchers have developed an eco-friendly composite material made of ‘Bambusa tulda’, a fast-growing bamboo species in Northeast India, combined with biodegradable polymers. 

Due to its properties such as, high strength, thermal stability, low moisture absorption and cost effectiveness, the developed composite is a suitable replacement of conventional plastics used in automotive interiors.

Led by Dr. Poonam Kumari, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, the research not only addresses the problem of plastic waste, but also provides a solution to the growing global demand for greener materials, particularly in automotive manufacturing industries.

"IIT Guwahati researchers tested four bamboo-based composite formulations consisting of Bambusa tulda fibers reinforced with bio-based or petroleum-based epoxies. By treating the bamboo fibers with alkali, the team improved its compatibility with the base polymer resulting in enhanced durability for real-world use. The developed formulations were then evaluated on 17 different parameters to test their tensile strength, thermal resistance, impact durability, water absorption and cost per kilogram, among others," the institute said in a statement.

"While these formulations had distinct strength, none of them had all the properties to provide a balanced and high performing option. To identify the same, the team used Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM), a structured evaluation method. The results observed bamboo composite made with bio-based epoxy FormuLite as the best performing option with low moisture absorption, significant thermal stability, and mechanical strength. The cost-effective nature of the composite, priced at Rs 4,300 per kg, makes it an eco-friendly solution for automotive parts, such as, vehicle dashboards, door panels and seat backs, among others," it added.

The findings of the research have been published in the prestigious journal, Environment, Development and Sustainability (Springer Nature), in a paper co-authored by Prof. Poonam Kumari, along with her research scholars Abir Saha and Nikhil Dilip Kulkarni from IIT Guwahati.
