Hawkers are being officially granted permission to permanently occupy footpaths

It's the hawkers who vote for HER and SHE has decided to reward them by providing them the entire footpaths all over Kolkata and the bigger towns in West Bengal for free. The local leaders of course extort a lot of money from those hawkers for the unofficial handover of government land. However, we keep funding her with road tax, etc.

Ever since February - March 2022, it's been noticed that 4' - 5' of the main throughfare are being cordined off with guardrails and nylon ropes making the already narrow roads even more narrower.

It's only a matter of time before a new group of hawkers will spill over on the newly earmarked footpaths for pedestrians.

Attached photos are from important throughfares in Kolkata clicked on 26th April 2022.

The thorny pricks if leading a vanlife is in your thoughts

Leading a vanlife is not as if you are living on a bed of rose petals. The number of thorns far exceed the number of petals.

I am in the seventh level of hell. We are living in our van/bus and nothing is going right. It’s a fucking money pit.

Just shelled out $170 because the underpowered Pos solar controller from Ecoworthy bit the dust when we connected the 12v air-conditioner. The new Pos controller isn't charging our batteries.

So I connected a charger from Ecoworthy to charge the batteries. No they’re now all different charges. The documentation sucks. The customer support by the seller is non-existent.

We can’t even run our expensive refrigerators (3 nos.). To acquire them I  spent $1,000. Our $3,000 air-conditioner sits unused. We’re getting eaten by mosquitoes despite the expensive screening. And I can’t sleep.

Living a vanlife seems to be the worst idea I have had. We even tried to hire a moderately expensive electrician, but there wasn't any success on that front, too.

Video of Sandip Hunday driving along Marvanthe Beach in December 2019

Indian Roadie Sandip Hunday from Kolkata went on a 7000 kms drive along with his wife in his Honda WRV Petrol in December 2019.
In the video he is seen driving past Marvanthe Beach in Karnataka, a beautiful stretch of less than 4 kms North of Udupi while driving from Goa towards Calicut on NH66 (erstwhile, NH17).
The waves of Arabian Sea literally lashes the North/ Goa bound flank of NH66 while the Souparnika River quietly flows along the South bound Udupi/ Mangalore flank.

Pune to Malvan
(Pune_Malvan):

- Talere - Kankavli - Malvan.

Road update:
Pune to Satara : Roads and tarmac are in excellent condition. There are no.more diversions.

Satara to Kolhapur : Good roads as usual but 2 diversions for  flyover construction. Tasawade toll plaza has no barrier instead there is one dedicated person who stops and then let go the vehicles after fastag is read.

Kolhapur to Talere : Crossing Kolhapur city from new Palace Road was smooth. The roads ahead till Talere are good. There are occasional rough patches.
Gaganbawda ghat is in excellent condition.

Talere to Kankavli :  Excellent 4 to 6 lane highway with less traffic. Kankavli has now got flyover which bypasses entire town.

Kankavli to Malvan : Good 4 lane road till Kasal. The state highway from Kasal onwards till Malvan is also in good shape. Just need to watch out speed breakers in villages and markets.

Ghoshpukur to Dhupiguri on NH31DA passing through Fulbari, Fatapukur, Jalpaiguri, Maynaguri - Indian Roadie Infrastructure Project

The 3,300 km long East - West Corridor connecting Silchar to Porbandar, is a part of Golden Quadrilateral, a dream project of revered Atal ji. The section from Ghoshpukur to Dhupiguri on NH31DA passing through Fulbari, Fatapukur, Jalpaiguri, Maynaguri and culminating at Dhupguri in West Bengal is a strategically important section of the E-W Corridor.
It has significantly increased the connectivity and has proved to be a gateway to North Eastern states having immense strategic and socio-economic importance. Passing through the Chicken Neck, it connects the trade routes with the neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. Also, it has reduced the travel time by approximately one hour between Siliguri and Alipurduar in West Bengal.

Found a South Indian food stall in Bhowanipore, Kolkata

This gentleman from Madurai in Tamilnadu has been selling dosas, idly, vada and other South Indian delicacies from his stall on the footpath in Ashutosh Mukherjee Road, opposite Ganja Park, Bhowanippre, Kolkata for over 2 decades. I chanced upon this stall on 2021-10-29 evening while I was in the vicinity to repair my VW Vento.
The food was so tasty that I got a few plates of idly and sambar vada packed for my wife and daughter at home.
The items on sale are reasonably pocket friendly, too.
I was in the same locality for an official meeting on 2022-04-06 evening. I couldn't resist the temptation of visiting his stall and getting a few items packed for home. I bought enough to take care of the dinner for the three of us that evening.
If you happen to visit this stall anytime soon, please share photos and details of your experience. I am sure that you too will have something good to write.

An Indian Roadie breakfast meeting at 10 am on Friday, 2022-04-08 after 25+ months to discuss pathbreaking initiatives related to my brainchild, viz. Indian Roadie with Amit Halder, the owner of a nice cozy cafe named Cup E Bong, somewhere near Abhishikta Apartments in the southern fringes of Kolkata.
After leading a highly regimented lifestyle for over 2 yrs because of the pandemic, I (Deep Banerjee, Founder - Indian Roadie and associated forums) am steadily getting back to my old self.
Thank you, Nikhilesh Roy for going all out to assist me in fructifying my dreams for Indian Roadie.

P.S: I was without the mask for the photo session only.
