A voluptuous mom and a cute daughter duo requested for a lift in my VW Vento from near St Xavier's University, Newtown, Kolkata on 2019-08-31

I was at St. Xavier's University Kolkata, Newtown at 1.15pm on Saturday, 2019-08-31 to drop my daughter.
The voluptuous mom and the cute daughter duo came up to me requesting for a lift in my car. They had requested many others since 12noon. Everybody had given them a cold shoulder.
I tried explaining to them that my VW Vento is too small for them.
What should I have done?
The wittiest answer will get a #WittyIndianRoadie digital certificate from me.

Proven efficacy of Make In India COVAXIN is far superior

Feeling happy to have opted for both doses of 'Make in India' COVAXIN for my daughter, wife and myself. Hopefully, the long drives, once we start those, be those for work or pleasure, will be safer and less worrisome.

ICMR has announced that efficacy of build up of antibodies for those injected with just one dose of COVAXIN after recovering from Covid is equivalent to those who have been injected with both doses of the vaccine brand. The efficacy of COVAXIN has been lauded throughout the world.

Microtarget your marketing to yield less leads but better conversion

Spending money on an event that attracts 5,000 people is great - if those 5,000 people will ever buy from you. It's better to microtarget your marketing whenever possible to yield less leads but better conversion. Focus on quality vis-a-vis quantity.

You never know where your next customer may come from. Regardless of your target audience, let data be your guide.

Amiya Dutta intentionally parked his Zen Estilo haphazardly near my house on 2021-08-23 afternoon

Amiya Dutta parked his Zen Estilo irresponsibly on the sly near my house once again on Monday, 2021-08-23 afternoon.

This was the second time when he intentionally parked irresponsibly after the showdown I had with Amiya Dutta and his younger brother Arun Dutta on Wednesday, 2021-06-30 from 8.45 pm to 9.00 pm even while it drizzled outside on that late evening! I had made it amply clear to them that the siblings are responsible for great damage to the running board and alloy wheels of my VW Vento. I had also warned them that the brothers will be solely responsible should anything unfortunate happens to anyone staying in the same lane and help doesn't manage to reach during the critical 'golden hours'.

My neighbours, viz. the Dutta siblings (Amiya and Arun) of 66H Suren Sarkar Road, Beliaghata, Kolkata - 700010 have no regards for inconvenience they cause to others. In spite of repeated requests and reminders they keep parking their cars WB06H1392 (Zen Estilo) and WB08K3995 (Tara Tiago) anywhere they feel like on the same lane where my house (66K) is located.

For them their attitude is invariably, If_I_Am_Fine_Everything_Is_Fine.

Ford Endeavour HR06AN0016 crashed into truck from behind in Haryana on 2021-08-19, driver died

A Ford Endeavour bearing registration number HR06AN0016 (Panipat RTO registered) driven by one Chirag Miglani crashed from behind into an Ashok Leyland container truck (HR65A6989) in broad daylight on 2021-08-19 on a 4 lane wide flyover on national highway (erstwhile, G.T.Road) in Gharaunda, Haryana.

The owner driver of the severely mangled SUV died on the spot. Even while the mishap was being reported, the dead driver remained trapped in the SUV. A lady (wife of the deceased) and two more male youngsters (reportedly, their children) who were in the car were severely injured and were sent to a private hospital in Karnal.

The family was on their way from Panipat to Chandigarh to attend a birthday party.

We wonder what the new age, supposedly tech savvy, educated in 'Detroit' roadies with lots of cash in the bank but bereft of grey matter in the top storey and still breathing, with a mobile or laptop keyboard in front of them would say to this. Their intolerant and know-it-all behavior when it comes to road travel and automobiles would invariably make them point all fingers at the sedate truck driver who must have been on an errand to earn just about enough money to feed himself and his dear ones!

Just shut up with your born in the footpath knowledge of poor/ strong build quality and illegal lane driving by heavy commercial vehicles.

Sahibganj (JH) to Manihari (BR) 22.68 kms - Indian Roadie Infrastructure Projects

22.68 km long Sahibganj (Jharkhand) to Manihari (Bihar) NH project is being developed at Rs 1900 cr. The project includes the construction of a 6 km long bridge over river Ganga.

This Area of Santhal Pargana is rich in coal and crusher material and the commercial vehicles carrying these minerals are now crossing the river on ship as there is no road connectivity right now.

The project will benefit the freight movement of minerals from Santhal Pargana to Bihar, North-east and West Bengal among other states. It will also ease trade to Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh and further ease road connectivity for the public at large.

Road trip to Banswara, 100 kms from Udaipur, Rajasthan by Archana Vidur

Just a 3 hours drive from Udaipur and you reach the land of 100 islands known as Banaswara. There are numerous islands on the Mahi River named as "Chachakota" and the river flows through Banswara.
Banswara is part of the Vagad region of southern Rajasthan and is mainly inhabited by tribals, known as Bhils. The 4 hours that we spent there we did not see a single tourist or a tourist car and for once the entire place was ours in July 2021.

Most people compare Banaswara with Scotland or Cherrapunji coz of the lush greenery and the rain that it receives. But I compare Banaswara to Lalaland- the land that I live in my dreams.

By the Way Banaswara got its name from the word “Bans” or “Bamboo Trees” that once upon a time grew here in abundance. The region also receives the second highest rainfall after Cherrapunji so you can imagine how green the valley must be.

There is little or no tourism in Banaswara today but this beautiful princely state was once ruled by the Maharavals.

Landslide at Nigulsari, Kinnaur, HP on 2021-08-11. HRTC bus missing

A massive landslide occurred at Chaura village on NH5 in Nigulsari area of Kinnaur district in Himachal Pradesh, 170 km from Shimla at around 12.30 pm on 2021-08-11.
A truck, quite a few passenger cars and a HRTC bus carrying about 25 passengers were trapped under falling boulders and flying stones. Many of the vehicles were flung into the raging water of Sutlej River down below.
A Tata Sumo was located under the debris and its eight passengers were found dead
A total of 13 dead bodies were found by rescuers upto Thursday 2021-08-12 morning. More people are expected to be still lying trapped under the debris. However, the HRTC bus which was on its way from Reckong Peo to Haridwar via Shimla could not be found. Only a body panel of the bus have been retrieved.
The driver and conductor of the bus had stopped the bus and walked about 150 mtrs ahead to where the actual landslide was happening. While they were walking back to the bus, huge boulders started raining on the bus and the other parked vehicles. The driver and conductor escaped with minor injuries but the bus vanished into the deep gorge below.
The following video shows the driver of the ill fated bus explaining the sequence of events at Nigulsari on 2021-08-11.

Bhagwat Prasad Pandey, a police officer of Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh became a household name pan-India by May 2020 (Episode 09).
I (Deep Banerjee) happened to bump into him on social media sometime in March 2020 when the scare of Corona had just started rearing its ugly head. Bhagwat Prasad Pandey had posted his first ever live video on Facebook from somewhere around Singrauli where he had gone to appreciate nature driving his official Mahindra Bolero. With my own fetish for proper communication, I took a liking for him instantly.
An honest to the core and a no-nonsense officer, he spent 18 - 19 hrs a day on the roads of scorching hot and dusty Sidhi and surrounding villages. He was my model Indian Roadie who perfectly fitted the motto of #LiveToHelp_HappyToDrive. It's little wonders that I invited him to be a part of Indian Roadie.
The way he enforced strict lockdown during the 1st wave of Corona, provided free food, medicines,  masks and essential items to the needy, and ensured reasonably decent quarantine facilities to migrant workers was amazing.
His sense of humor, ability to coin short rhymes on the spur of the moment and mete out unique punishments to those who knowingly broke lockdown guidelines earned him huge respect. Our friend is an awesome singer with a great voice, too.
Every morning and evening he went live on Facebook and people not only in Sidhi, but also from across India and overseas would eagerly wait to watch him 'live' on Facebook. I was no exception either. I too remained glued to my mobile to watch him live everyday.
I can't think of a better example of anyone having seamlessly put Social Media to good use for 'Personal Branding and Reputation Management'.
One fateful day I saw him fining this obnoxious Chauhan guy in a dark blue ₹82 lakhs BMW. That was possibly in July 2020. In less than a week after the incident he was ordered off duty and assigned to the police lines. The rich guy who had an axe to grind, had obviously pulled strings in higher echelons of power in MP and succeeded in removing a star officer from active duty. I myself was heartbroken, too.
Social Media was filled to the brim with people expressing extreme unhappiness on the removal of a loved lawkeeper. I too wrote on various social media forums seeking for his reinstatement.
However, the wishes of New India prevailed. Within 2 - 3 weeks of his removal, Bhagwat Prasad Pandey was reinstated with full honours and possibly with a promotion because he was seen moving around in a bigger and more comfortable Mahindra Scorpio.
#BhagwatPrasadPandey is our Indian Roadie of the difficult times.
With responsible and self motivated 'coronawarriors' like Bhagwat Prasad Pandey in the forefront, 'INDIA JITEGA, CORONA HAREGA' (a popular phrase coined by our talented friend).
Bharat Mata Ki Jai 🙏
Fellow Indian Roadie fans and members, please join me in writing a few words to keep the adrenaline in the young officer running high.
Let us all wish Bhagwat Prasad Pandey every success in his career and pray for a very happy personal life.
P.S: Quite a few episodes of his diligent work during the 1st wave of Corona in 2020 are already there in Indian Roadie, Marketing Gyanology, Marketingpundit, Education And Career Pundit.

Hyderabad to Kolkata road trip in VW Polo by Prateik Roy in October 2020

Wishes for a safe and happy Durga Puja 2020 to all members of  IndianRoadie.

After rescheduling for couple of times finally completed my homecoming from Hyderabad to Kolkata (Hyderabad_Kolkata) in my evergreen and trustworthy VW Polo on 21st October 2020, " Laali" as I call her!

Weather was not very promising in Hyderabad over the last few weeks and after hearing from multiple fellow travelers about the road condition, didn't take any chance but carried all necessary precautions starting from complete puncture repair kit, long serving Tvs inflator, jumper kit, towing rope, 250 ml Mobil 15w-40 synthetic and VW specific pink coolant refill  (thanks to my ASC for that), wiper fluid refill, emergency utilities along with ample packaged water, food, ors, first aid and medicine..
Carried disposable plates, paper cups, cutlery, hot water flask with tea kit and a handy duffle consisting of all essentials for a  night halt.

Day-1 (20th Oct): 5:30AM- 4:20PM, 698kms-> Heavy rain continues in Hyd, route as usual ORR(exit- 11)-> NH65 -> Benz circle left turn onto NH16->via port road into  Vizag.
Stayed in Winsar Park as we planned to spend sometime by the beach to unwind.

Day-2 (21st Oct):  7:00AM-11:30PM, 852kms->started via Bheemli for a beautiful view by the beach stretch onto NH16->Barkul-> Bbsr-> Bhadrak-> Balasore-> Kharagpur bypass->Kolaghat->Home sweet home

Total Kms covered: 1550
Toll paid: 1953 inr
Tyre pressure : 34 F & 36 R psi
Fuel:~115 litres, refuelling only from COCO bunks.
On-road time: ~28 hrs

Roads are excellent till Vijaywada and then from Hanuman junction,AP starts the potholes stretch until Rajahmundry. After that road becomes better but you may be surprised by a sudden crater.
Be careful on port-road flyover incase you're entering Vizag city!!
Road until Bbsr from there is good and you can make up a lot of time , one needs to be mindful of stray cattles in entire OD stretch to avoid hits!!!
Again post Manguli toll plaza there are hell lot of diversions that will eat up your time.
Post Sergarh toll you need to cross a factory railway line and thery is very high chance of underbody hit if one is not careful.
Once you enter WB post that road is too good and due to puja all heavy vehicle movement is prohibited hence it's like a cake walk upto home in Salt Lake.
