Road trip to Tabakoshi, about 8 kms beyond Mirik, Darjeeling district, West Bengal in end August 2019

Tabakoshi is a Japanese sounding unspoilt hamlet surrounded by hills and well maintained tea gardens on the banks of Rangbhang River and located 8 kms beyond Mirik in Darjeeling district of West Bengal.

Sunakhari Homestay is the ideal place to stay in Tabakoshi.

Piyali Ghosh and her husband stayed in the stone house. There's also a tree house, bamboo house and a bottle house. The home stay has its own poultry and facilities for fishing. There are two temples nearby.
Home cooked tasty food is served in 'kansha' utensils.

The owners of Sunakhari Homestay are Ramesh Rai and family. The contact numbers are 8348031197, 6297963228, 9593661864, 9593793057. Food plus stay was Rs 1200 per head per day in end August 2019.
There's also Khushi's Homestay a short distance away.

"Mighty M80 takes on Mighty Khardungla" - Girish Venkatraman's post on 2019-08-26

I am totally overwhelmed to inform you all about my ride of the year 2019.

As you all know, Khardungla is a holy place for every rider and if you been there once, the shrine calls you back again and again .... this will be my 4th visit there.

In 2019 my riding partner is none other than Mr Rakesh Edurkala from Puttur.

We have planned our journey for Sep 2, 2019 by train from Mangalore to Chandigarh. From 5th September we will start our ride from Chandigarh to Leh/ Khardungla via Manali and back to Kanyakumari, covering over 4500 km.

Khardungla to Kanyakumari, that is our K2K ride in September 2019.

We started preparing for this ride since March 2019. We have got our rides ready, did some test ride and everything seems to be in place.

I request your kind support to us during our ride, same as last year.

This year we have named our ride as:

“Mighty M80 takes on Mighty Khardungla”

Both of us will be riding 15+ years old Bajaj M80  to Khardungla.

I will update the routes and more details in coming days.

Wish us success and keep us in your prayers.

Thanking you all
Girish

Cheryl Zeglen, 59, of Canton died after an accident caused by grass clippings left in the road

A motorcyclist died after an accident on Saturday, 2019-06-08 caused by grass clippings left in the road, according to witnesses.

Cheryl Zeglen, 59, of Canton, Illinois, USA was riding with her husband and other motorcyclists on County Highway Route 6 in Bureau County when the accident occurred.

When the group came upon grass clippings left on the road, the lead rider, Zeglen’s husband, Tom Zeglen, began to lose control.

When Tom Zeglen slowed down, Cheryl Zeglen crashed into him and was ejected from her motorcycle.

Zeglen died at the hospital two days later.

Tom said she was first taken to Perry Memorial Medical Center, then to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was pronounced dead two days after the accident, on June 10th at 12:00 p.m. from blunt force injuries.

Initial drug and alcohol tests were negative. Tom said there was no autopsy.

Washington Police Chief Mike McCoy tells us Zeglen was an active member of the motorcycle community, often participating in the St. Jude Ride.

Zeglen was a waitress at Joe’s Place in Norris, Illinois, and worked previously as a paralegal.

In late April, KWQC published a story about the potential dangers grass clippings can pose for motorcycle riders.

Road trip to Kartik Swami Temple, Chamoli, Uttarakhand

Kartik Swami Temple, Chamoli, Uttarakhand.

There is an appealing history of Lord Murugan to reveal to the devotees. Once Lord Shiva enlightened their lads that whosoever takes the seven rounds of earth will get an opportunity to pay respect to their parents first. While Kartikeya headed off to take the round of universe, Lord Ganesha showed his astuteness and started taking the round of Lord Shiva and Parvati stating that he sees the whole universe in both of them. Lord Shiva got amazed by his acumen and offered him the privilege to worship first. Annoyed by this decision, Kartikeya gave his flesh to Maa Parvati and bones to Lord Shiva.
