While driving to the Nilgiri Hills, it’s better to stay in:
Kotagiri,
Red Hills,
Emerald,
Avalanche,
Upper Bhavani (too many restrictions on visit & no hotels),
Conoor,
Glenmorgan (another hidden beauty).
Skip Ooty. It's too crowded on weekends. Rampant construction work has made the town devoid of all greenery 😢
