Hats off to the perseverance and grit of Paramjeet Singh, Auto Rickshaw owner-driver in New Delhi

He grew up in a middle class family in Lodhi Colony, Delhi.
His dad was a civil servant and had a govt. accommodation.
He went to Dayal Singh College and started his own business. At one point, he was the sole distributor of the brand Rasna. He had a big godown in Lajpat Nagar, with 7-8 autos delivering Rasna all over Delhi. He was known in every market. Life was great.
Then the 1984 riots happened. He lost his entire godown, 8 autos and even the dealership.
Tried working with various food companies, but it didn’t work out.
So he restarted life by buying a taxi and driving it. Always in a crisp white uniform.
Six-seven years later, while returning from Mussoorie, he had a terrible accident.
Was in coma for 13 days. Woke up in a Dehradun hospital with knees, rib cage and one hand crushed.
Doctors at Safdarjung Hospital healed him over 3 months. This was followed by another 3.5 months of physio & exercises.
He got back on his feet but the car couldn't. So he bought an auto. But a few years later, he had a stroke.
It took time but he recovered fully. He now drives an auto, never refuses a passenger, has been cheated by customers. But still smiles and talks politely. Wahe Guru, he says.
After reading his story, I feel like, no matters how tough your life is, you need be strong and hopeful through out it all. Trust me, every cloud has a silver lining.
Hats Off to you, Mr.Paramjeet Singh.
Huge respect for him, his resilience and his spirit.
