Bangalore - Salem - Coimbatore - Pallakad - Kuthiran tunnel - Thrissur - Angamaly is all good.
Salem bypass and Coimbatore bypass (about 30 kms long) are fully operational.
With the opening up of Kuthiran Tunnel (KL), the drive has become very smooth. Earlier the Kuthiran Ghat stretch had narrow roads and lorries struggled to negotiate the climb. It used to result in heavy jams.
From Karnataka-Kerala border till Thrissur there are lots of speed cameras. Be careful and maintain speed limits. Patrolling is stringent.
From Angamaly to Kochi and onwards to Cherthala it's narrow four lane road with dense traffic.
Kochi - Cherthala - Alappuzha has dense traffic. After Cherthala it is narrow two lane road with even more traffic for 22 kms till Alappuzha (Alleppey) .
From Cherthala roadies can opt for a scenic drive upto Alappuzha via Arthunkal coastal route or via Thaneermukkom route where one can stop for a while at Vembanad Lake.
