Road trip from Bangalore to Coorg and Nagarhole by Suryadip Chowdhury in December 2024

We two families went for vacations on my white Renault Kiger to Kikod (Coorg) from Bangalore.

We started our journey on the 21st Dec, 2024 around 6:45 AM, from my home at North Bangalore. Drove towards Goraguntepalya and then through the Outer ring road reached Mysore expressway.

We had our breakfast at Hotel Amravati, Srinivasapura (near Mandya) on Mysore express way (around 120km from my home at Kothanur area) at around 9:30AM. This is our fixed place to have breakfast with a fixed menu Rawa masala dhosa and coffee while we are going towards Mysore.

Around 10:30 AM we started from there towards our home stay at Kikod named Hideen Creek Coorg, in between we stopped for lunch around 2:00 PM at FOMO coorg at Gonikoppa on Thalassery-Mysore road near the Brahmagiri wild life sanctuary. We started from there around 3:10PM towards Mathigadu Elephant camp and then proceeded to our Homestay at Kikod inside the coffee estate named Hidden Creek. The location inside the dense coffee estate where the google map also got confused, the homestay owner informed us before that after Mrityunjaya swami temple we should follow the sign board present throughout the last 5 km span.  We finally reached the homestay around 6 PM.

Next Day 22/12/2024, we visited Glenlorna tea estates of TATA coffee limited and Iruppufalls. We didn't find any good restaurants near iruppufalls so we had our lunch at the road side Restaurant hotel lakshmana tirtha near the entry gate of iruppufalls at 2PM. It was a decent south indian hotel. Post lunch we proceeded for Tholpetty wildlife sanctuary, kerala, but we didn't get any tickets for that day as all safari slots were already booked. We returned back to the homestay around 6:30PM.

Next day on 23/12/2024, in morning we visited falls inside the coffee estate where we stayed. Post breakfast we started for nagarhole national park around 11 AM.  We secured the offline ticket for the safari at 2:30 PM and then went for lunch at Double shot cafe near to Nagarhole safari gate. After we finished our lunch we just got into the bus for safari. We spotted a tiger, elephant, deer etc. It was nice experience. The evening we spent with the barbeque arranged by our Homestay.

Next day 24/12/2024, we started our return journey around 12:00 PM from our Hideen Creek homestay in Coorg to toward Bangalore. Initially we had planned to drive from inside the Nagarhole National Park to Hunsur but we dropped the plan due to the medical emergency of one of our kids. We had our lunch in Ashirvad Grand in Yelawala cross just before entering Mysore. We reached our home by 7PM.

Total distance = 727KM
Petrol- Rs. 4992/-
Toll- Rs.775/-

Overall road conditions are very good. Inside the coffee estate last 5 km stretch was a bit off roading but we didn't feel any difficulties in my Renault Kiger.
