Tata Motors gifted 20 Tata Winger ambulances to Maharashtra government in July 2020

Tata Motors donated 20 nos Tata Winger Ambulances to Maharashtra Government in early July 2020 even while the number of Covid-19 positive cases are surging upwards.
Looks appealing and a pretty decent option for vanlife once it's repositioned accordingly for retail customers.
The position of the headlights should be reworked. It should ideally be fixed at least 8 - 12" higher.

Singur was abandoned by Tata Motors in early Sept 2008, farmers in despair

A frustrated Mr. Ratan Tata abandoned the Tata Motors Nano plant in Singur, Hooghly district, West Bengal in early September 2008. Mamata Banerjee declared herself victorious. She addressed Mr. Tata as Tata Babu on that fateful evening and whole of Bengal cheered. That marked the doom of West Bengal in every sphere of life.

Fast forward to April - May 2019. Years after the Tata Manufacturing plant was shifted out of West Bengal’s Singur to Gujarat’s Sanand, the farmers involved in the agitation against the Tata behemoth have expressed their regret for the agitation that led to the expulsion. Though they got their land back, the farmers feel cheated as the land is uncultivable and the town doesn’t have enough jobs for them says a report in DNA.

According to the farmers who took a march to Kolkata in 2018 to demand setting up of industries in the region, they were used by political parties in the agitation that culminated into Tata leaving Singur district for their Nano car production. They asserted that if they get a chance to atone for their “mistake”, they would eagerly give away their land for setting up industries in Singur.

However, today the disenchanted farmers, having realised that they had been used as cannon fodder by the politicians have expressed remorse over their decision to agitate against the Tata conglomerate. One of the farmers, Ashok Maity said, “We got nothing out of the agitation. We were used and later dumped to fend for ourselves by the political parties to serve their own purposes. No industries came up in the region, nor the land which was returned to us in 2016 is cultivable. We are living in extreme poverty.”

The farmers in the region had to fight a long and enervating legal battle to get hold of their land. Ashok and his brother got 60 kottah of land. However, the land they got was converted into concrete or covered with wreckage. The agricultural experts believe that with the concrete pillars and slabs on the ground, at least 7-8 inches of topsoil will have to be removed to make it arable again. It is a costly measure and the farmers are not in the position to bear the expenses. Without this procedure, it might take 10 more years for the land to turn tillable.

Many farmers in the district echo Maity’s sentiments. They claim that they were influenced by the political hysteria around the anti-land acquisition movement and got duped by it. They believe if they had provided their land for the industries, Singur would have turned into a teeming industrial town, creating and offering jobs to many and their children wouldn’t have to forage other states in search of jobs.

Experience with Zoomcar by Pradeep Marwaha in January 2019

Experience with Zoomcar (self-drive car company) in India, as narrated by Pradeep Marwaha on Facebook on Thursday, 2019-01-17.

We rented a Zoomcar (Tata Tiago) under booking ID JPS6FU7HR on 12 January 2019 and returned it before the due time of 3 am on 16 January 2019.

It had a diesel leak which was spraying diesel into the bonnet over the battery etc creating a life endangering situation for us including 3 senior citizens and two youths, almost all through our trip for 4 days.

We were concerned about the excess diesel being consumed since we got diesel filled for 1360 + 1330 + 1330 + 1360 + 500 and only while filling the diesel on our last leg at Sarjapur Road did we realize that diesel was leaking dangerously. We reported this to Zoomcar from whom we had rented the car and on their advise slowly drove home in Kaverrapa layout. We obviously asked for a refund of the amounts we had paid for the rented car since they had given us a unfit car.

The payment acknowledged in their mail is : Cost Breakup

Booking fee ₹ 7881
Discount ₹ 1350
First 930.0 Kms
₹ 8 will be charged for each excess km
FREE
Total Cost ₹ 6531
Refundable Deposit
Refund after the completion of the booking
₹ 3000
Paid ₹ 9531
₹ 9531.

Strangely Zoom Cars sent us intimations stating that we should pay them additional 10,000 towards a damage to the car. Very ironically this was before we reported the problem in mail and before any of the people from Zoom Cars had even inspected the car. After discussing over the phone with their helpline, we were told that their team would investigate and process our refund on 17th January 2019.
Imagine our surprise when we got an intimation from them that the total bill was for 21,947.

Kindly initiate suitable action against them and ensure that they pay back charges taken from us for an unfit car which could have caused death of all 5 of our family members; and also refund Rs. 3,000 taken as a deposit from us; and pay us a suitable amount for cheating us with a faulty vehicle and for harassing us an amount of Rs. 2 lakhs at least. Any other detail needed to close this case will be provided by us as best as we can. Thank you for your support.

This is the complaint we wrote to Zoom Cars which they acknowledged as  [CASE:1128128] (Query Related to Billing and Charges -> Damage Charges related)  :: We had rented a zoom car on 12Jan. During our trip we have found that we have been issued an internally unfit car by zoom. The car has some internal issue due to which all the diesel (including which we have refueled) has leaked out and is currently constantly leaking from below the bonnet. We have already contacted Zoomcar helpline and have received 2 calls, one from them and one from Tata Motors breakdown team. They have instructed us to leave the car and that they will be sending a towaway team to the car. We have followed their instruction and parked the car and locked it before 3am today in Marathahalli, Bangalore. The diesel which we had refueled is still leaking drop by drop. Since we have been handed over an unfit vehicle which had internal issues (not possible to be detected by us while it was being issued to us) which spoiled our trip, put our families lives in danger and caused all the fuel to leak, I request you to pay for our damages and cancel the ride and take the car back.'

Thanking  you in anticipation,

Pradeep Marwaha

Tata Motors April 2018 domestic sales up 86% to 53,511 units:

Tata Motors posted 86 per cent jump in domestic sales at 53,511 units in April 2018, led by strong sales in commercial and passenger vehicle (PV) segments.

The company had sold 28,844 units during April 2017 Tata Motors said in a regulatory filing.

Domestic sales of Tata Motors commercial vehicles in April 2018 grew by 126 per cent to 36,276 units compared to 16,017 units in April 2017.

"Various macro-economic factors, infrastructure growth, improved industrial activities and consumption-led demand contributed to the growing volumes," Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles Business Unit President Girish Wagh said.

Passenger vehicle (PV) sales stood at 17,235 units in April 2018 as compared with 12,827 units in April 2017, up 34 per cent.

While there were challenges in market, strong demand for new generation products like Tiago, Tigor, Nexon and Hexa lead the growth in April 2018.
