Indian Roadie Sanjeev Mukhi went for a bike ride from Delhi to Rishikesh and back to Delhi with his wife Dr Savita and 11 more biker friends. The following travelogue was penned by him in the first person.
Day 1 (13/4/2024):
Stating time 4:30 morning from Sector 62, Noida UP.
Participants: Eleven bikes and twelve riders.
Age group: 35 to 62 yrs.
Indian Roadie Sanjeev Mukhi and his wife aged 60 yrs.
Rode Kawasaki z650.
Distance between Delhi to Tapovan, Rishikesh was 234 kms.
Had Breakfast at Khatoli midway.
Had juice break at Haridwar Ganga Barrage.
Visited Beetle Ashram which used to be occupied by Mahesh Yogi ji.
Also visited sacred waterfall at Tapovan.
Stayed at camp site near waterfall.
Day 2 (14/4/2024):
Woke up early morning
Visited another waterfall after trekking through some very steep track. Visited a couple of yoga ashrams.
Enjoyed good breakfast at Shiva Cafe.
Packed our bags and started our bikes for the return ride at around 12 noon.
Rode to Laxman Jhula and enjoyed two hours at the Ganga River.
Enjoyed cups of tea at Buddha Cafe.
Started our journey back to Delhi around 2 pm.
Halted midway at an Haldiram outlet for lunch and snacks.
Reached Delhi safe and sound around 9 pm.
Faced lot of traffic after Mujaffarnagar due to election rallies and Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti.
Conclusion:
Everyone rode responsibly in a convoy with speed not exceeding 80 kmph and nobody overtook each other.
The summer heat resulted in dehydration of some of the bikers. Long rides need good physical and mental strength.
