We 3 (viz. daughter, wife and yours truly) drove to a traditional Bengali picnic (choruibhati) on Sunday 2023-01-08 early morning after being invited to join by fellow Indian Roadie Nikhilesh Roy. The picnic was organized by Mahatirtham Citizens Welfare Society who are residents of Madurdaha of East Kolkata Township.
The venue was a sprawling 'baganbari' (farmhouse) with tall trees, two huge ponds and an open air ground with trees all around, about 3 kms on the right, off the Ghatakpukur crossing on Science City - Malancha State Highway. The distance was about 35 kms from the Ruby Hospital crossing.
Most items in the menu were carried raw to the spot, cut, marinated and cooked at the venue itself. The accompanying photos will reveal some of the lip smacking food items which was there for all attendees.
We were back home around 7.30 pm after a day well spent with lots of yummy food and wholesome 'adda' (chatting) session.
The last such picnic attended by me was along with my parents at Randiha on the banks of Damodar River, near Panagarh almost 35 years ago. For my daughter, it was a new experience altogether.
Thank you, Sukanta Das for being the driving force behind this well managed open air picnic.
It was a perfect Indian Roadie Drive For Food/ Indian Roadie Travel For Food.
