Ensure maximum caution while buying/ selling from/ to pre-owned car dealer

Delhi Police have detained Md Salman, the registered owner of the Hyundai i20 car linked to the Red Fort blast that has already claimed at least twelve lives, injured many and damaged multiple vehicles on Monday 2025-11-10 evening.

According to initial media reports, Salman had sold the car in Okhla and it was later resold to a man named Tariq with suspicious links in Pulwama. Authorities are now tracking all owners in the chain to determine how the vehicle ended up at the site. None of the pre-owned car buyers had got the Hyundai i20 car re-registered in their own names but were driving it all over North India.

Joint teams from Delhi and Gurugram Police are questioning Salman and gathering details as the investigation continues. Security has been tightened in sensitive areas, and officials are reviewing CCTV footage and other leads.
Lesson to be learned:
Selling/ buying/ exchanging a pre-owned car is not as simple as the favourite tiffin you shared with your close friends in school!
The onus of all deeds and misdeeds pertaining to automobiles rests on the person whose name features in the registration certificate. Signing Form 29, 30 while selling/ buying a pre-owned automobile is not enough.
