Escape to Nayantara Resort (a unit of Serenity Getaways), with some serene cosy cottages nestling on the tranquil banks of the Baranti Dam in Purulia District of West Bengal. Nayantara Resort is surrounded by the gentle, rolling hills of the Ajodhya range. Nayantara is not just a place to stay - it is an immersion into the vibrant heart of the Bengal countryside.
Our resort is surrounded by nature's finest treasures. Wake up to the fiery orange-red of Palash (the Flame of the Forest), the tall vibrant Shimul (the Red Silk Cotton), the blazing beauty of the Jarul, the Krishnachura, the Radhachura, the intoxicating scent of the Mohua, and the rare, deep crimson of the Rudra Palash.
Baranti offers a serene weekend getaway with fantastic lakeside views of Baranti Dam. In winter the lake and the water bodies are full of migratory birds.
Baranti Dam is only a few minutes drive from the historical Garh Panchakot built in the 9th century. Garh Panchakot was the home of the Singh Deo rulers for 800 years before it was destroyed by the Bargis (Maratha raiders). The ruins of the fortress can still be seen on top of the Panchakot Hill. The Kashipur Rajbari, the home of the Singh Deos' near Garh Panchakot is a splendid structure built in a mix of the Western and Bengali architectural forms with high columns and spacious courtyards.
A lovely drive can be arranged through the green tropical forests to some Rock Climbing and Nature Trekking spots like Joychandi Pahar and Mama Bhagne Pahar, the Bero Hills of Purulia. Guests at Nayantara Resort can quietly enjoy the rural surroundings, listen to the occasional howling of the jackals as the evening closes in.
