Foodie Roadie India - Poori Sabzi, Gulab Jamun at Munna Shaw's shop, 48B Dr. Sundari Mohan Avenue, near Nepal Sweets, Kolkata 700014 on 2023-08-28

The hot and soft yummy gulab jamuns priced at ₹8 per piece at Munna Shaw's shop located at 48B Dr. Sundari Mohan Avenue, near Nepal Sweets, Kolkata 700014 is unbelievably tasty.
While returning home after a meeting on Monday 2023-08-28 at 9.30 pm I had an urge to have a couple of them after the poori-sabzi. Bought and carried quite a few of the gulab jamuns for wife and daughter at home.
Feeling so happy.

Foodie Roadie - 14 heritage eateries in Kolkata with the 'Heritage' tag from INTACH by Aradhana Chatterjee

Kolkata is indeed the perfect location for roadies from anywhere in India who would love to embark on an Indian Roadie Drive For Food.
Aradhana Chatterjee in her lovely vlog has listed out 14 heritage eateries which have officially received the 'Heritage' tag from INTACH, a project supported by Goodricke tea. The young girl is doing a phenomenal job in vlogging and has become my favourite. Aradhana is flawless in her communication and is so so so natural in her presentations.

Food options on the Konkan stretch of Maharashtra

Some must have food (and names of restaurants) on the beautiful Konkan stretch.. Happy eating 🐟🐠🐓🍧🍹

1. Raj Lunch Home in Padel, 12 Kms before Vijaydurg Fort - good place for lunch. Must have Sol kadi and Fish thali. Don't forget to try the mango pulp sweet, too.

2. Breakfast at Suruchi in Vijaydurg - Try the ghavn chatni (similar to Neer dosa), another traditional breakfast in Marathi houses.

3. Lunch at Hotel Vishranti, approx 1.5 kms from Kankavli. Must try bhendi fry. Also good halt for clean Indian style washroom.

4. Breakfast at Hotel Abhiruchi, off Kudal - Pinguli road - good for Poha (they say Pohe in Konkan).

5.  Bhalekar Bhojnalaye on Sawantwadi Amboli road - another must halt for lunch/dinner. Try their thali and make sure you ask for a special pomfret fry, available in multiple sizes, which suits your tummy and pocket. Bhalekar Khanaval is also known as Mahalaxmi Bhojnalay in Sawantwadi.

6.  Hotel Lemongrass - along with great stay, everything we had here was just 👌🏻- tandoori pomfret in white masala, paneer paratha. You have to try their deserts - Shai Tukda, Phirni, Seradura a traditional Portuguese pudding. We had 8 servings in 3 days, we could have kidnapped the chef. Also have their kesar lassi - trust me you will need a bed to sleep after that for sure, don't have it if you on the drive for sure 😴

7. Gurukripa is a small eating joint in Malvan Market - famous for their yummy and gharhuti food. Their ghavne and chatni is the best we have ever had. Run by the Talvadekar family, the owner ensures to give you the best catch of the day. Although this is a small place, you will keep coming there everytime and will never be disappointed with their food and hospitality. We've been coming here for the last 6 years and our tummy keeps wanting for more.

8. Just opposite Gurukripa Hotel is Yashree Cold Drinks and Ice Cream Parlor, also in Malvan market. You can't leave without having their Mango Mastani and flavored ice creams.

9. Bhauchi Khanaval  is also a good place for fish in Kudal, off NH66 in Konkan Maharashtra.

10. Tanavade's near Gavaldev in Kudal - good place for fish.

11. Hotel Abhimanyu, Kudal - good place for fish.

Another tip - always ask the local rickshaw wala for food options, we've never been disappointed with their recommendations so far.

Road trip from Bangalore to Bidadi for Thatte Idli and Filter Coffee by Nitin Sinha on 2021-12-11

This post is dedicated to all those who love Idli.

Date of Journey: 11th December 2021
Car: Ford Endeavor

Bangalore - Bidadi - Bangalore

Bidadi is a small town on the outskirts of Bangalore on the Mysore Road. The place is famous for what is called as “Thatte Idli”
This is different form regular Idli in the sense that it’s larger in size (circumference) and a bit thicker too.
On the road one will find numerous shops selling Thatte Idli.

On 2021-12-11 morning we thought of going to this place and taste the mouth watering Idli. We started around 7:00 in the morning. Took the regular MG Road, Hudson circle, city market, Kengeri route to Bidadi. Took around an hour in the morning to reach this place.
It has a huge parking space and that’s an advantage with the ongoing road widening work on the BLR-Mysore route.
The taste of Idli and Chutney is amazing! The Idli was so soft that it would as if melt in the mouth 😋😋. It was looking so nice while served that before taking the pic itself we had one bite of it 😊
Post Idli, it’s customary to have the steaming filter coffee and we had that too.
On return, we took the NICE road to reach Bangalore. The longer route took around 1:15 mins. Concrete work on the NICE road is ongoing for some portions between Mysore Road entrance to Electronics City/ Hosur Road exit. Otherwise it’s a pleasure to drive on this road.

Must visit - Candolim Beach, Goa

The scenic beauty and food of Goa are inseparable.

The morning and evening views from shacks in Candolim Beach and the solid chunks of pork prepared in tangy gravy plus the sea food platter which most of the famous shacks offer are every fun loving foodies delight.

I am craving to smell the fresh sea breeze of Goa.
