It was a pleasure meeting Indian Roadie Adv Abhijit Sarkar after a sudden call from his end on 2026-01-30 evening. He picked me up from near my house in his 18 months old Skoda Kushaq. 

Spent quality time over yummy Egg Chicken Roll, Steamed Chicken Momos and Chocolate Coffee at Tarang Restaurant, GD Block Bus Terminus, opposite NIFT Girls' Hostel, Salt Lake, Kolkata.

Indian Roadie GTG with Sandip, Rahul, Suchanda at Jal Vayu Vihar on 2026-03-18

Wonderful evening spent at Jal Vayu Vihar, Salt Lake, Kolkata with sister cum friend Suchanda Sar and St Patrick's School Asansol classmate buddies Sandip Samanta and Rahul Sarker on Wednesday 2026-03-18 evening. 

We missed Tito (Krisnendu Sar) for the GTG. However, we pulled him in from Haldia for some time through a video call. 

Indian Roadie was discussed at length. 

The adda was so refreshing. 

Feeling elated.

Indian Roadie GTG with Suvodip Mukherjee to see his new Hyundai Exter in Salt Lake on 2026-02-06

Indian Roadie Suvodip Mukherjee and his wife Sangeeta Mukherjee are die-hard Hyundai Motors fans. They brought home a spanking new Hyundai Exter towards the end of 2025 after driving a time tested Hyundai Eon for years. Suvodip spoke to me in details about their new acquisition over the phone. He was very keen that I visit his sprawling office campus in Salt Lake, Kolkata barely 3 kms from my home to have a look of his beautiful Exter. 

On Friday 2026-02-06 evening, I could finally visit his office campus full of greenery. The Exter is surprisingly spacious inside. The engine is so silent. The model chosen by him is packed with features. The R15 tyres are ditto the same as my own VW Vento.  

We couldn't stop discussing the car even while having yummy vegetable chop and steaming hot coffee at the rooftop canteen. He has already listed out an array of extremely useful accessories which he plans to buy online and offline over the next few months. 

The 2+ hours spent with him was indeed a great pleasure. 

Incidentally this was my second visit to his office campus.

Indian Roadie GTG 

IR GTG 2024-04-20 @ IA265 - Satyam Mukherjee

It was a long awaited meeting (Indian Roadie GTG) with Indian Roadie Satyam Mukherjee (Workplace: Bangalore. Presently working from home in Arambagh) which finally happened on Saturday 2024-04-20 evening at the Indian Roadie Adda Joint at Mio Amore, IA265, Salt Lake, Kolkata. 

He is a regular on the Bangalore to Kolkata and Kolkata to Bangalore route, so regular that the car has already clocked about 62,000 kms in the past 18 odd months since he bought it in 2022. 

Thank you Satyam for driving your Hyundai Creta SX a whopping 83 kms each way (Arambagh to Kolkata) with a sole objective of meeting me. 

Awwww ..... I am truly honoured 🙏

no rhyme or reason  ..... some of us in Indian Roadie are always game for a relaxed drive for food.
Kolkata got its much awaited torrential rainfall on 2023-06-09 afternoon. The drizzle had not yet stopped but the weather became perfect for a leisurely drive around Salt Lake City, barely a stone's throw from my house. While I was enjoying the cool breeze standing on the verandah on the 1st floor of my house, there was this totally unexpected call from Adv Abhijit Sarkar, "Dada, I am going to pick you up in the next 45 minutes. Get ready".
Aimlessly we drove around Salt Lake for sometime and then headed for yummy rolls bought from the Jabbrr Afghani outlet near City Centre - 1 Mall followed by extra strong coffee at an outlet in IA market.
Abhijit dropped me home at 8 pm even while it kept drizzling outside.

IR GTG on 2023-06-11 to hand over Indian Roadie Stickers to Rishi Raj Mehra

The first Mahindra XUV700 to don the classy Indian Roadie Stickers anywhere in India will be that of Indian Roadie Rishi Raj Mehra of Kolkata. 

Not only was the set of stickers handed over but was also delighted to meet Rishi on Sunday 2023-06-11 evening over a hearty chat revolving around his recent trip to Gurudongmar Lake and a yummy Chicken Roll and carbonated soft drinks each from Tripti Cafe at Beliaghata CIT Morh in Kolkata.

IR GTG 2023-03-19 @ The Ladle, PA Shah Rd Connector - Nikhilesh Roy

At 7.45 pm on Sunday 2023-03-19 I was at home feeling terribly tired after a day of hectic work. 

Indian Roadie Nikhilesh Roy called me to enquire about my whereabouts. On getting to know that I was at home, he literally ordered me to leave everything and meet him for dinner at a newly opened food joint, The Ladle on Prince Anwar Shah Road Connector (about a km West from Abhisikta Apartments). 

I dressed up and reached him driving my VW Vento within the next 1 hour. 

The invitation to the treat was to commemorate the purchase of his brand new beauty, a Maruti Suzuki Baleno. 

It had drizzled off and on the whole day. The sweltering heat and high humidity had vanished. Being a Sunday, the EM Bypass was devoid of the usually heavy evening traffic. It was such a pleasant to and fro relaxed drive of exactly 18 kms. 

Thank you, Nikhilesh for getting me introduced to the couple owning The Ladle.  Btw, the chicken fried rice was really good 😘

IR GTG 2022-12-04 @ Mio Amore - Maneesh Vijaya

Indian Roadie Maneesh Vijaya from New Delhi had spoken to me on the phone quite a few times prior to December 2022. Both of us were waiting eagerly for the right opportunity to meet up. 

Finally on 2022-12-03 morning, I was thrilled to receive a call from Maneesh wherein he told me that he was on his way to the airport to board a flight to Kolkata to attend a marriage on the same evening. It was decided that we will meet up the next morning before his departure for Delhi. 

It was a memorable long awaited #IndianRoadieGTG on 2022-12-04 morning at Mio Amore, IA265, Salt Lake and Bancharam sweet shop before bidding adieu. The duration of the meeting was short. I wish we could have had more time in hand to discuss numerous other topics of mutual interest. 

Dear Maneesh, we must meet for a longer duration during your next visit to Kolkata. Hopefully, the wait will be sooner than expected.

IR GTG 2022-11-23 @ Mio Amore - Debdan Ray

Indian Roadie Debdan Ray drove his Renault Triber all the way from Mumbai/ Thane to Kolkata with wife, son and two Labrador daughters aged 4 and 9 in October 2022 just after Diwali. 

Debdan's route from Mumbai to Kolkata (Mumbai_Kolkata) was as follows: Thane - Pune - Solapur - Zaheerabad - Hyderabad (ORR) - Vijayawada - Elluru - Rajahmundry (4th Godavari River Bridge) - Annavaram - Vizag - Srikakulam - Girsola - Brahmapur - Barkul - Khurda - Bhubaneswar - Cuttack - Bhadrak - Balasore - Jaleswar - Kharagpur - Kolkata. 

He wanted to celebrate his own birthday with his aged parents and also had a marriage ceremony to attend which concluded recently. He is expected to work from home in Kolkata till the end of December 2022 or early January 2023. 

Although he had ordered for his own set of Indian Roadie Stickers way back in August 2022, he had specifically told me that he will personally collect those from me in Kolkata. 

On Wednesday 2022-11-23 evening we met up at our regular Indian Roadie Adda Joint in Salt Lake, Kolkata. I had the privilege of handing over the envelope of stickers and fixing a sticker on the rear windshield. 

The Chicken 65 Rolls, Fish Mustard Roll, Chicken Patties, Chocolate Crunch pastries at Mio Amore and multiple cups of coffee nearby while engaging ourselves in variety of subjects upto 10.15 pm made the hurriedly called Indian Roadie GTG truly fulfilling.
