IR GTG 2023-03-19 @ The Ladle, PA Shah Rd Connector - Nikhilesh Roy
At 7.45 pm on Sunday 2023-03-19 I was at home feeling terribly tired after a day of hectic work.
Indian Roadie Nikhilesh Roy called me to enquire about my whereabouts. On getting to know that I was at home, he literally ordered me to leave everything and meet him for dinner at a newly opened food joint, The Ladle on Prince Anwar Shah Road Connector (about a km West from Abhisikta Apartments).
I dressed up and reached him driving my VW Vento within the next 1 hour.
The invitation to the treat was to commemorate the purchase of his brand new beauty, a Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
It had drizzled off and on the whole day. The sweltering heat and high humidity had vanished. Being a Sunday, the EM Bypass was devoid of the usually heavy evening traffic. It was such a pleasant to and fro relaxed drive of exactly 18 kms.
Thank you, Nikhilesh for getting me introduced to the couple owning The Ladle. Btw, the chicken fried rice was really good 😘

Bangalore to Lucknow - Indian Roadie Preferred Route driven by Aashish Srivastava in Maruti Baleno on July 14 and 15, 2020
Solo Drive : Bangalore to Lucknow 14th July - 15th July 2020
Route : Bangalore - Hyderabad - Nagpur - Chindwara - Narsinghpur - Jhansi - Kanpur - Lucknow
Fastag : Worked from Bangalore till Lucknow. Including Hyderabad's Nehru ORR and inner Chindwara route from Nagpur.
Total Toll : 2845/-
Fuel : 8600/-
Distance : 2100 Kms
Fuel Economy : 20Kmpl
Bad Patches : Chindwara to Amarwara (10 Kms), due to truck traffic diversion from Seoni this stretch has got affected. 10 Kms of huge potholes road. Rest its a butter smooth route.
Epass : No Exit pass from Karnataka
No Transit Travel pass for AP, TS, MH, MP or UP
Since UP has no epass system I drove throughout without any pass.
It was a 36 hours drive from Bangalore to Lucknow. Started at 5.30 am (14th July) from Bangalore (Ecity), reached Nagpur at 8pm. Stopped for a night break at Borkhedi Toll Plaza (35 kms before Nagpur). Slept in the car for 5-6 hours. Started again at 3.00 am and reached Lucknow at 5.30 pm (15th July).
Aashish Srivastava wasn't stopped anywhere except at MH entry border from TS after Adilabad where they just asked for Name, phone number and from/to details with car registration number. No documents were produced. Later while entering Nagpur city for Chindwara route was stopped at the entry of the city and the police guy tried to make a quick buck but failed since the rules were known to Aashish. The cop had asked for a pass to enter and exit MH and showed some Marathi circular soft copy. Aashish maintained distance and confidently told the cop that there's no such pass required. Our friend was allowed to proceed after 2 - 3 mins.
No checks whatsoever at MP or UP borders and no one keeps a track of who is entering and leaving.
Since Aashish has done this route multiple times both in a car and on a motorcycle he was confident about the road conditions and everything and it was a good drive with zero outside food or water purchase. Everything was carried from home in Bangalore.
