Beware of stones stuck between the tyres in a vehicle ahead of you

I have personally been witness to the gory consequences of a brick or stone flying off like missiles from the wheels of moving trucks/ buses, not once but thrice in my driving tenure of over five decades!

Beware of stones/ bricks stuck between the rear tyres of a moving heavy vehicle ahead of you. A major disaster can happen any moment. Be High On Cognition. Either maintain reasonably safe distance or overtake at the first opportunity and make it a point to let the driver of the heavy vehicle know about the impending danger.

If the stone or bricks flies off from between the wheels of the vehicle ahead of you, there's no guarantee that the strong build quality of your vehicle will save you.
Therefore, instead of concentrating on some dumb navigation maps on the screen of a device in your car or some music that you immensely like, etc, etc, apply your God gifted intelligence and learn to expect the unexpected while driving.

None in the car should be allowed to peep out of the sunroof nor should it be kept open in a moving car or even a stationary car parked besides a highway.

Bulge on the outer wall of a tyre is dangerous

"I see a bulge on the outer wall of the tyre. Have run my new car on this tyre for 1800 kms.
Is this a serious issue?
Should the tyre be replaced?
Can it be repaired?"

The above is a prototype of frequently asked questions in various social media forums.

Answer: Extremely serious issue.
Irrespective of whether the tyre has run for 800 kms or 2800 kms or 28000 kms, replace the tyre ASAP if you truly believe that your life and those of your dear ones are important. Tyres with bulges on the side walls can't and shouldn't be repaired.

JB Tyres Kolkata (MRF T&S) wishes all roadies pan-India a safe and enjoyable drive.

Abruptly pulling the handbrake resulted in the Maruti D'zire toppling over on 2020-05-17

Stepney (spare wheel) accidentally fell off from a truck. To avoid hitting the wheel on the road, the driver of the red Maruti Swift D'zire trailing the truck panicked and pulled the handbrake. Instantly the car rolled over. Fortunately, the driver sustained minor injuries only.
Shashidhar was witness to this freak mishap which happened around 9.15 am on Sunday, 2020-04-17 near Sira on NH4 (Mumbai - Bangalore stretch of Golden Quadrilateral).

Lesson to learn:
Never ever pull the handbrake abruptly at any speed over 60 kmph.

Overtaking at blind turns can be fatal

Sometime in November 2019, our fellow Indian Roadie, Sumit Suvarna saved himself by managing to brake and stop his car just in time.
The possibilities of what could have happened were many.
A) The oncoming Maruti Ciaz being driven recklessly at high speed could have been crushed by the rear wheels of the truck it was trying to overtake at a blind turn.
B) The Ciaz could have crashed head on into our friends car.
C) The Ciaz could have grazed the sides of the truck, panicked and then run into our friends car.
D) Etc, etc, etc.

Therefore, while driving remain extremely alert and be 'High On Cognition'.

How NOT to ride in winding hilly terrains in India

How NOT to ride in winding hill (ghat) sections.

Irrespective of whether one is driving a car or riding solo or in a group, always remain #HighOnCognition. Please don't endanger your own life or that of other road users. Be responsible. Ensure that everybody is comfortable with your mannerisms on the road. Driving/ riding are a combination of art and science.
