Bike ride on narrow road between sea and river near Pithrody Beach near Udupi in KA during monsoons 2019

Udupi - Pithrody Beach - Jog falls - Gokarna - Murdeshwar - Udupi monsoon ride 2019.

The feeling of riding on a narrow road with two different types of water bodies, viz. Arabian Sea on one side and river on the other is just so amazingly satisfying.
The videos were shot on a 10 km stretch from Mattu Beach to Malpe Beach near Udupi in Karnataka, a little north of Mangalore.

Traveling by road is the best, safest & most economical option for wanderlust expatriates and Indians to get the true essence of India.

Who are the expatriates visiting India and willing to be my car travel buddy?

As a corporate marketing strategist and visiting faculty at b-schools pan-India, I gather out of the box marketing inspirations while driving around this huge and fascinating country with expatriate travel buddies in my own VW car.
Let's drive entire India or a part of it (and even Bhutan, Nepal) together in my own car absolutely hassle free and as travel buddies in total safety, comfort, flexibility and affordable cost.

However, this friendly offer/ invitation to expatriates worldwide should not be misconstrued as a business proposition.

It's not a simple fill it, shut it, forget it for a large chunk of the Indian populace whose life would come to a grinding halt without regular supplies of petrol, diesel or kerosene.

Buddhist monastery in the picturesque village of Likir in Ladakh, off Srinagar - Leh Highway

The Likir Monastery or Likir Gompa is one of the oldest and well maintained monasteries in Ladakh district in Jammu and Kashmir. The monastery is located in Likir village. It is believed to have been in existence since 11th century. The original name of Likir monastery is Klu-kkhyil gompa. Besides being the oldest, the monastery is also known for the 75 feet statue of Buddha.

About 52 kms west of Leh in Indus Valley, the picturesque village of Likir is believed to be among the oldest villages of India. Every Indian Roadie, Shetravels India, Backpacking India on Road, Global Roadie follower must visit, rather drive/ ride to the monastery which is about 9.5 kms north of the Srinigar to Leh highway.

Likir means the Naga encircled. The monastery got its name as it is believed two serpent spirits – Nanda and Taksako – guard it. The gompa belongs to Gelugpa sect of Buddhism which is also referred as Yellow Hat sect. It was founded by Tsongkhapa in 15th century.

Contact: Stanzin Takspa of Ladakh Trekking Old Likir Guest House, located right next to Likir Monastery in Ladakh. He can help connect Indian Roadie, Shetravels India, Backpacking India on Road, Global Roadie followers for short stays at the monastery.

Yellow taxis in Kolkata in West Bengal, India are a receeding phenomenon as in mid-2017

Receeding phenomenon!
In another 4 - 5 years, the ubiquitous gaudy yellow Ambassador taxis could be an absolutely rare sight in #Kolkata in #WestBengal, #India.
During my growing up years it was only the Black body and Yellow top Ambassador taxis manufactured by Hindustan Motors that ruled the thoroughfares of Kolkata.
For some odd policies of the erstwhile Communist Government that ruled the state from 1977 to 2011, the colours of all taxis in Kolkata were changed to a gaudy Yellow in the early 2000s.
In May 2011 with the change of government in West Bengal, it became mandatory for all taxis to sport horizontal blue lines on both sides.
It's widely known that the lady head of the present government since 2011 has a peculiar fetish for blue and white. As in 2017, all new general taxis in Kolkata are sporting the white and blue colour.
Moreover, it's already over 2 years that the production of Ambassador cars have stopped because the company has downed shutters.

Let's explore India together on road

I am at Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary, the land of leopards in the state of Chattisgarh, India while driving solo from Pune to Kolkata.
I love to see India while travelling together with wanderlust backpacking travellers from throughout the world. 3 to 4 persons at a time from across the world are invited to travel with me in my car (SUV or sedan) at a very low cost (we will go Dutch!) in total comfort and absolute safety.
In the process, my travelbuddies get a true feel of entire India, its culture, topography, people, food, etc, etc. I get them to talk to the local populace in villages/ towns/ cities, school students, and also engineering/ business school students at various locations to understand the true India.
Multiple numbers of driving circuits have been planned for all weather round the year drives. However, we strictly do not drive during the night.
For students, researchers, bloggers, photographers, friends, couples, backpackers this will be one cherished and unforgettable holiday. This is not a business proposition. We simply embark on a journey and drive around as friends!
