Glenmorgan to Masinagudi via Kalhatti - Indian Roadie Preferred Route

There is no road from Glenmorgan to Masinagaudi other than the regular road via Kalhatti. There is only a winch for Tamilnadu Electricity Board employees from Glenmorgan to Moyar Power House.

5. G Maps spies on them, sees them "driving" daily on this "route"
6. It sees their speed is >10 kmph, so it concludes they are on a vehicle, and hence, the "road"
7. Some johnnies in G Maps look at the "track" images, sees the path of the winch, concludes it is a road
8. They draw it as a road,. christens it "Singara Rd".

It is one of the steepest winches in the world at 40 or 45 Degree gradient. This is a restricted area. Driving/ riding/ cycling is strictly prohibited.
One can examine the images in Satellite and conclude the same. One can also see the sluice pipes carrying water down to the power house running parallel to the winch.

What if there's heavy rains in the Nilgiris. Do the roads still remain in good shape, at least the stretch from Pykara to Glenmorgan?

Singur was abandoned by Tata Motors in early Sept 2008, farmers in despair

A frustrated Mr. Ratan Tata abandoned the Tata Motors Nano plant in Singur, Hooghly district, West Bengal in early September 2008. Mamata Banerjee declared herself victorious. She addressed Mr. Tata as Tata Babu on that fateful evening and whole of Bengal cheered. That marked the doom of West Bengal in every sphere of life.

Fast forward to April - May 2019. Years after the Tata Manufacturing plant was shifted out of West Bengal’s Singur to Gujarat’s Sanand, the farmers involved in the agitation against the Tata behemoth have expressed their regret for the agitation that led to the expulsion. Though they got their land back, the farmers feel cheated as the land is uncultivable and the town doesn’t have enough jobs for them says a report in DNA.

According to the farmers who took a march to Kolkata in 2018 to demand setting up of industries in the region, they were used by political parties in the agitation that culminated into Tata leaving Singur district for their Nano car production. They asserted that if they get a chance to atone for their “mistake”, they would eagerly give away their land for setting up industries in Singur.

However, today the disenchanted farmers, having realised that they had been used as cannon fodder by the politicians have expressed remorse over their decision to agitate against the Tata conglomerate. One of the farmers, Ashok Maity said, “We got nothing out of the agitation. We were used and later dumped to fend for ourselves by the political parties to serve their own purposes. No industries came up in the region, nor the land which was returned to us in 2016 is cultivable. We are living in extreme poverty.”

The farmers in the region had to fight a long and enervating legal battle to get hold of their land. Ashok and his brother got 60 kottah of land. However, the land they got was converted into concrete or covered with wreckage. The agricultural experts believe that with the concrete pillars and slabs on the ground, at least 7-8 inches of topsoil will have to be removed to make it arable again. It is a costly measure and the farmers are not in the position to bear the expenses. Without this procedure, it might take 10 more years for the land to turn tillable.

Many farmers in the district echo Maity’s sentiments. They claim that they were influenced by the political hysteria around the anti-land acquisition movement and got duped by it. They believe if they had provided their land for the industries, Singur would have turned into a teeming industrial town, creating and offering jobs to many and their children wouldn’t have to forage other states in search of jobs.

CRPF, BSF to Get Bomb-Proof Vehicles for J&K, Naxal-Hit Areas, Government Approves Procurement.

Expenditure sanction for Rs 613.96 crore has been issued to paramilitary forces such as CRPF and the BSF for the purchase of additional mine-protected vehicles, bullet-proof jackets, ambulance, etc.

The government will soon procure mine-protected vehicles for the movement of paramilitary troops in the Naxalism-hit areas and Jammu and Kashmir and remotely operated vehicles to help anti-terror commando force NSG in encounter sites, officials said earlier. Expenditure sanction for Rs 613.96 crore has been issued to paramilitary forces such as CRPF and the BSF for the purchase of additional mine-protected vehicles, bullet-proof jackets, ambulance, etc. Expenditure sanction for Rs 16.84 crore has also been issued to the National Security Guard (NSG) for the purchase of seven remotely operated vehicles, a Home Ministry official said.

The forces such as CRPF uses mine-protected vehicles (MPVs) for limited troop movements in areas affected by Naxalism and in Jammu and Kashmir. About six personnel can travel in one such four-wheeled vehicle.

When the additional MPVs will arrive, it will enhance capabilities of the paramilitary forces countering improvised explosives devices (IEDs) in Naxalism-hit areas and in Kashmir Valley, the official said.

The remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), to be procured for the NSG, can carry out surveillance inside buildings, buses, Metro and railway stations and can help forces locate and defuse IEDs without human intervention.

The ROVs can climb a staircase or a slope of at least 45 degrees with a weight of 8kg. It will have modular mount for weapon system (SMG, MP5 and shotgun), de-armer disrupter and real-time viewing system with X-ray, another official said.

The NSG has already procured the Renault Sherpa Light Armoured personal carrier. The Sherpa is highly mobile in war zones and it has a 4.76 litre, 4-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine. The 4x4 vehicle has a payload of 2.2 tons and can carry 10 personnel. Even though the vehicle is 11 tons in weight, it has a top speed of 110 kmph and can run 1,000 km with a tank full.

Range Rover Evoque being test driven at high speed on NICE Road in Bangalore crashed, 1 dead and 3 injured

When it comes to a self-drive car or a test-drive car or even a friend's car and the likes, most people tend to take liberties by misusing the ride.
In end-March 2019, a person in Bangalore hailed a test drive Range Rover Evoque and got his friend to drive the car while he sat behind to experience the comfort of the rear seat.
The friend revved the car to almost 190 kmph on NICE Road in Bangalore city outskirts. On approaching a toll plaza, the driver friend lost control of the SUV and rolled off the road after somersaulting 7 times. The person driving the car lost his life while the prospective owner, a lady and a minor girl are in hospital with serious injuries.

This man with colourful merchandize piled high on his ride is no less a roadie than anyone of us. His life revolves around movements on road day in and day out for the upkeep of his dear ones at home.

The photo of this hardworking roadie reminds me of a pathetic gloating retard in the NCR who once said that it's only a man with courage/ ability who can drive high up in the Himalayan ranges when it's pitch dark outside and with a machine which should be a 4WD or a monster with high engine torque and capable of going for frequent off-roading gigs which makes one a true roadie.

This poor man trudging along on the streets of Raipur derives pleasure not by revving, not by screeching to a halt. He derives pleasure returning home, how small or broken it might be, to a smiling family where he is always welcome! He slogs it out to earn every rupee and lubricates the chain of his ride with his own hard earned money!

'Thiksey Gustor', a festival that was held in Thiksey, Ladakh in November 2017

The Thiksey Gustor, was a 2-day festival celebrated in Ladakh from Nov 6th 2017.
This festival was celebrated at various monasteries of Thiksey (on Leh - Manali Highway), Spituk and Karsha Nanzkar.
The word ‘Gustor’ means ‘sacrificing'.
During the festival, there are early morning prayers. After the festival concluded, there was distribution of the sacrificial cake, also known as the Torma during a ceremony called ‘Argham’ or killing.
The leader of the Black Hat dancers did the distribution, marking the end of the festival and commemorating the victory of good over bad.
There was also a re-enactment of  the assassination of the traitor King Lang Darma of Tibet by a Buddhist monk during the mid 9th  century.

Chaitanya School Bus rammed into numerous road users in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh on 2019-02-22

A school bus ferrying children of Sri Chaitanya School in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh rammed into numerous other road users on 2019-02-22 morning, leaving many injured.
The way the bus ploughed through everybody on a reasonably wide road, it appears that it's driver had initially tried to save a pedestrian or someone who had suddenly strayed on its path.
