Built in 1200 CE during the reign of Hoysala King Veera Ballala II, the twin temples are an elegant example of Hoysala architecture.
Temples are highly ornate and richly carved, with elaborate sculpturing and lathe turned pillars! With inner walls, outer walls, ceilings, shikharas, eaves, all filled with intricate carvings, this great piece of art showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of those times.
The twin Ekakuta temples are complete with typical hoysala components such as Garbhagriha, Shikhara, Sukhanasi, Navaranga, maha mandapa, and Kalasha.
What a creation which is 800 yrs old!
