The driver and helper of a multi-axle Volvo bus operated by Shyamoli Paribahan on the Kolkata to Puri route died on the spot and at least 13 passengers on board were injured after the bus being driven at high speed collided with a cement laden truck from behind on NH16 near Kadei Chhak under Barchana Police limit of Jajpur district in Odisha at around 3.45 pm on Saturday 2024-06-08. The bus caught fire after the impact. Timely arrival of the police and fire brigade averted more casualties.
The injured were rushed to SCB Medical College in Cuttack about 80 kms away.
