A pothole led to a school bus accident in Karnataka, resulting in the death of two students and injury to 15 others.

The incident occurred on Thursday 2024-09-05 near Kapgal in Manvi Taluk, Raichur district, when a Loyola School bus carrying 40 students collided with a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (#KSRTC) bus.

According to Traffic and Road Safety ADGP Alok Kumar, the Loyola School bus swerved to avoid a pothole, which caused it to veer into the path of the KSRTC bus traveling behind it.

The collision was intense, leading to the death of two students and severe injuries to three others, who lost their limbs.

In response to the tragedy, KSRTC has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of the deceased students and Rs 3 lakh for those who were injured.
