Covaxin 2nd dose for wife and me on 2021-05-18

Thank you Narendra Modi ji once again 🙏

The 1st dose was on 2021-04-10 at a spanking new private facility, Techno DAMA Hospital, 1.5 kms from home.

To get a vaccination slot for the 2nd dose was not as easy as the 1st dose because all private facilities were debarred from procuring vaccines on HER instructions. After returning to power for the third time in a row, the I_Me_Myself LADY wants to hog the limelight as if SHE is doing residents of West Bengal a great favor by vaccinating them. It was little consolation that we got our 2nd dose FREE.
A totally botched up bot by some unheard of, but 'inspired' (anupranito) IT company engaged by the KMC for vaccination slot allotment ultimately resulted in we 2 getting alloted 5 Covaxin 2nd shots between 18th and 21st May 2021. It won't need the intellect to fly rockets 🏀🚀 to guess what might have happened to the 'three' extra vaccines alloted to us!
lt's a challenge now to get the 1st dose of Covaxin (paid or free) at a relatively safe and crowd free vaccination centre for our daughter at the earliest opportunity.
Now the moot question  ......
Since my wife and I completed the vaccination dose on 18th May 2021, exactly 15 days ago, why is it that I am letting the world know after this huge time interval.
My doctor friends and their wives, who are doctors too, unilaterally had the same advice for me. They had warned that a minimum of 15 days after the the 2nd dose is extremely critical because while antibodies build up within the body, the body remains weak and and susceptible to contracting the Chinki virus 😩.
A lot of people known to them let loose their guards after the 2nd dose of Covishield or Covaxin, contracted the disease and died after draining their dear ones mentally, physically and financially!

CAUTION: After getting the 1st or 2nd dose, get back home and after a wash pop down a Calpol 500. Pop down 3 more after that at 12 hrs interval.
It will not do any harm.
On the contrary you will save yourself from the hassle of extreme body ache and fever. Why invite uneasiness.
That's what we did after the 1st and also the 2nd dose on the advice of a doctor friend.

Today, 15 days got over. Earnings are zero. Financially I am in a precarious situation. Nevertheless, I am trying to keep myself jovial and self motivated although I can't see any light at the end of the long and winding tunnel.

Friends, please remain careful. Your dear ones need you more than you need yourself.

It's because of your mission to keep all Indians safe that my wife and I were fortunate enough to get our 2nd dose of Covaxin on Tuesday, 2021-05-18 at 1.55 pm. We got jabbed at a vaccination centre at Bidhan Shishu Udyan, 4 kms from our home in Kolkata, just 4 days prior to the scheduled deadline of 42 days (for Covaxin) was about to expire.

Covaxin 1st dose for wife and me on 2021-04-10

Thank you, Narendra Modi ji 🙏

My wife joins me in conveying my heartfelt 'pranam' to you.

Ever since end March 2020, I was scared that I will breathe my last without the luxury of getting shielded from the Chinese virus.
By the year end you proved me wrong.
It was because of your leadership and initiative that not one, but two brands of vaccines were introduced in the Indian market.

As a marketing professional, my next worry was how you and your team would handle the logistics of distribution and administering of the vaccines in a diverse country like India. Even a fortnight before the actual rollout happened, I was mighty scared that if the process of distribution was left to one bloodthirsty and diabolical LADY in West Bengal, I will not get it before the next 13 - 15 years, as per my calculations.
On 25th February 2021, I heard J.P.Nadda ji announce in Science City, Kolkata that you have taken a decision to open up the vaccination process for all Indians above 60 yrs and also for those between 45 - 59 yrs but having specific co-morbidity issues w.e.f 1st March 2021.

I could clearly see the light at the end of the tunnel.
On 1st March 2021 itself, the day online registration started on cowin.gov.in, my wife and I registered ourselves using my smartphone in about 100 seconds only from start to end.

I am still not 60. Fortunately, neither of us have any health co-morbidity issues. Nevertheless, I was sure that my wife and I will become eligible for the 1st dose of the vaccine by the Diwali of 2021.
You proved me wrong once again. I let out a shrill cry on that wonderful morning in end March 2021 when I read that your team has decided to throw open the vaccination process for all above 45 yrs of age, irrespective of whether one has any health complications or not w.e.f 1st April 2021.
I checked out the Cowin website immediately and was delighted to find that we two were still registered on the site.
1st April came. My wife insisted that we head to any of the private vaccination centers near our place of stay in Kolkata.
On that particular day, I couldn't take my eyes off the various news channels showing the happenings in Nandigram. More than the virus, the 'vinaash' of the venomous lady was far more important to me.

Then came 2nd April.
Sir, let me admit that I am paranoid about getting pierced with that small but scary looking needle.
However, after waking up from sleep on Saturday, 10th April, I mustered enough courage and headed to the Kolkata unit of a  multi-speciality hospital chain, located off the EM Bypass with my wife. It was 12.45 pm. The vaccination venue resembled any working day in Canning Street in Kolkata. We would have had to wait in a queue with at least 170 people ahead of us waiting under a 'shamiana' for their 1st dose of Covaxin.
Needless to mention, we beat a hasty retreat.

We headed straight to Techno India Dama Healthcare and Research Hospital, LB Bock, Salt Lake, on EM Bypass and besides National University of Judicial Sciences. We were just behind 8 people who were there for their 1st dose of Covaxin on payment of ₹250 per head.

All private healthcare centers in this part of my city were administering Covaxin today.
Sharp at 2.30 pm on 2021-04-10, a pretty young and professionally adept lady nurse jabbed the syringe 💉 with the 1st dose on my right upper arm while my wife stood clicking photos of the process for the Covaxin vaccine to work on me.

My wife made it clear to me that she would scream at me if I dared to click her photo while she got pierced.

The process over, we kept waiting at the adjacent squeaky clean air conditioned waiting room for about 30 minutes before another masked pretty lady arrived to give us some important dos and donts. She also warned us of possibilities of extreme joint pains and high fever lasting for a maximum of 2 days and recommended paracetamol tablets and use of ice packs should the need arise.
Within 2 - 3 minutes after getting jabbed, I got an SMS confirming that we have indeed received our 1st dose of vaccine and would have to wait for another 28 - 42 days for the 2nd dose. The certificate in .pdf format got generated instantly on the Cowin website.
For the vaccine to be absolutely effective, we clicked a couple of more photos for your perusal and also for the perusal of my friends.

Returned home thoroughly satisfied with the experience. And BTW, to commemorate the days sweet experience, bought 1 kg of sweet black grapes 🍇 and a water melon 🍈 weighing 2.5 kgs on the way back.

After all my eligible Indian Roadie  friends pan-India get jabbed twice and the second wave of Corona presently sweeping India subsides, we should meet up and rejoice. Till such time, please obey the Covid-19 protocols and stay safe with your dear ones.
Irrespective of whether you have reached the eligible age or not, healthy or co-morbid, vaccinated or not, please start believing that wearing of masks 😷, maintaining hygiene and social distancing 👤✖️👤 are extremely important for the welfare of all.

If at all you need to travel, please register online and get vaccinated before the rush for getting vaccinated becomes unbearable.

Sen Raleigh

In 1952, Sudhir Kumar Sen set up Sen-Raleigh bicycle manufacturing unit in Kanyapur, Asansol. The vast (125,000 sq, ft) modern factory with state-of-the-art equipment had the capacity to manufacture 2,00,000 cycles annually. Initially, the accessories and various components of the bicycles were imported from England and Germany but within a couple of years, manufacturing of these components began in the factory at Asansol. The sturdy cycles gained huge popularity within a short time as the pricing was fixed keeping in mind the buying capacity of the common man. Sen not only concentrated on manufacturing the Sen-Raleigh bicycles but also imported other renowned bicycle brands like Humber, Robin Hood and popularized them in India. Sen-Raleigh bicycles were also exported to different countries abroad.
Sen-Raleigh Company was the only player and ruled the bicycle market in India for many decades as the sole manufacturer and distributer, but gradually other players joined the race and individual manufacturers set up factories in different states and made bicycles locally that they sold at a much cheaper price. Sen-Raleigh Company needed to change its strategy to remain in the race. Amid all this, on August 28, 1959, Sudhir Kumar Sen breathed his last while on a tour to Germany. During this time, the government encouraged the setting up and expansion of four wheeler industry in the country. The middle class was enticed to go for four wheeler vehicles. This gave a big blow to the bicycle market. Sen Raleigh was forced to cut down its price to remain in the business but that did not help and the company’s financial condition went for a downhill journey.
Finally, in 1975, the Central Government took over the management of the company and continued production under the brand name of Cycle Corporation of India Ltd. But by then the company was embroiled in a series of litigations that led to its closure in the 1990s. However, the Raleigh brand bicycles are still doing robust business abroad. Manufacturing of components are outsourced to companies in China, Taiwan and Thailand from where the cycles are manufactured in the main units at England and America. It is a pity that we Indians failed to continue our association with a premier brand and manufacture world class bicycles here in India.
The deserted factory, living quarters, and playground – the entire township at Kanyapur off Asansol stands as a silent observer to the golden phase of industrialization this place witnessed and then wilted and then died.
The Sen-Raleigh brand always held a very special place in the hearts of most Indians and still brings back memories of another era for many old-timers. It is not unusual to come across families who still get excited when they announce with pride their vintage possession: a Sen-Raleigh bicycle!
The story of Sen Raleigh Ltd, Asia’s 2nd biggest cycle manufacturing factory
https://youtu.be/eB3UBjMiMzw

The Gandha witch with a patch of grey hair in front spoilt it all. She got crores from Punjab and Haryana, nationalized the company and ensured Sen Raleigh's downfall.
Then came the Hanikararak Jyoti in WB. The bugger drilled the last nail into whatever life was left in the company 😠

Travelling in private vehicles to vaccination centres allowed during lockdown in WB

West Bengal government has imposed strict lockdown throughout the state w.e.f. Sunday, 2021-05-16 to Sunday, 2021-05-30 to control the spread of Covid-19.
I have been receiving a lot of queries since Saturday about restrictions on movement in personal transport to Covid Vaccination Centres (CVC).
Alapan Banerjee, IAS, Chief Secretary of West Bengal has confirmed at a press meet while announcing the lockdown on Saturday,  2021-05-15 that CVCs will operate as usual and beneficiaries will be allowed to proceed to vaccination centres in personal vehicles for the much needed vaccination. He spelled it out in no uncertain terms.
Moreover, he has announced that almost all government and private offices will be closed and so will all educational institutions.
Movement of intra-state buses, local trains, taxis, AppCabs, autoricshaws are totally banned and so are movements of personal vehicles without valid reasons. Only vehicles carrying essential items and/ or engaged in healthcare duties will be allowed.
Bazaars, grocery, milk and dairy outlets will be open from 7 am to 10 am. Pharmacy outlets and opthalmologists will remain open according to their usual business hours. E-commerce deliveries will happen as usual. Sweetmeat shops will operate from 10 am to 5 pm.

A car cover does more harm to a car than leaving the car totally uncovered in the open.

Guruprasad Kulkarni is an Indian Roadie Good Samaritan for his noble deed in Mumbai on 2015-02-03

Friends, I have to share this experience with you. Today a van driven by a young guy cut me off dangerously near L&T flyover on JVLR. I saw the same van stop at the powai signal ahead honking incessantly. I was so upset with this careless driving and insensitive honking that I stopped my car beside in the middle of the lane to see what was the damn issue and why had he stopped in the middle of the road like that. I got down to give a piece of my mind to this arrogant driver. I was expecting some young bastard just high on sugar or something. But as I approached that van I could see this driver guy, actually a boy merely 17-18 years old, almost in tears with one hand on wheel and other on the passenger behind who was a 5 year old child with a bleeding ankle and a rod pierced through. The driver was rushing to hospital but he couldn't drive with the child falling off the back seat. Apparently the child had gotten hurt on a playground and his older brother couldn't think anything but to put him in the van and drive him to Powai hospital.
I thanked God for that instinct to stop by him. I asked the driver to sit behind with his injured brother and drove their van to Hiranandani hospital which wasn't very far from there.
Now here is the twist.
In all that bleeding child's pain and crying driver, I was so caught up that I left my car keys with the traffic police on that signal and left my own car right in the middle of the road!
After I took those boys to the hospital and doctors took over ( the father of those boys had reached by then ), I suddenly panicked thinking of my car. I rushed outside to hail an auto so I can see if my car at the signal was OK.
To my surprise, the traffic police guy had driven right behind us and was waiting with my car and keys outside across the road.
You can imagine my relief! He handed over the keys and before I could say thanks, thanked me for doing what I did and left saying he couldn't leave that signal spot for so long.
After this eventful morning I just checked in to a cafe and had to share this with all of you. Always be kind, almost everyone has a reason to behave the way they do and believe it or not if you help someone, there is someone else right behind you to help you.
God bless!

Delhi couple in car arrested for not wearing mask and misbehaving with police personnel

Cops across India have a tough time reigning in rogues to wear masks or to follow rules.
Hear the lady scream that she is so influential that she can make the PM or CM sell 'chana' on roads.
Instantaneous exemplary punishment, including some tight slaps in full public view might be able to teach these qualified uneducated idiots the much needed lessons that their parents or grandparents couldn't inculcate into them.
Location: Somewhere in NCR in mid-April 2021.

P.S: The couple were arrested and sent to Tihar Jail after the judge denied their bail petition.

MORTH has developed and published draft standards for Road-Trains

Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari has continuously stressed on bringing the best global technology to the country, that can reduce the logistic cost and have a positive impact on the environment.
In this direction, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India has developed and published draft standards for Road-Trains, a first of its kind intervention in India.

The government has clearly spelled out that there's no shortage of medical oxygen. Due to the huge demand arising out of a spike in Covid cases, containers are in short supply.

Taxi driver from TS appeals to MH Chief Minister after being regularly harassed by cops in MH

Maharashtra Police under the governance of a Khichdi Government (formed for personal convenience) are possibly the worst and most corrupt ones in India. The bullied taxi driver hailing from Telengana in the video of March 2021 is asking for help from a CM who is an utter crook himself 😡
Be careful when you are driving to/ through Maharashtra.
When on the road and you are in a situation where you are stopped by cops anywhere in India, rightfully or wrongfully, don't try to be an activist or an extra savvy techie.
How well you communicate with logic will either help you or mar your chances of escaping from their clutches.
