Honda City driven at 180 kmph on Yamuna Expressway in July 2021

Here's another fool who revved his Honda City to 180 kmph on Yamuna Expressway in July 2021 and boasted about it in another forum.
He is confident about going scotfree because nobody knows the registration number of his car.
However, just two taps on the mobile screen reveals that he is an Assistant Professor in the healthcare vocational department of a college in Kolkata. He hails from a state in southernmost tip of India, etc, etc.
Should anything go wrong the deshdrohi brigade will leave no stones unturned to blame the government and the authorities!
Should he survive after a crash in his next attempt to surpass his own record, he will post a selfie with his damaged car on social media and write a caption which will read something like, 'Thank You Honda for saving my life'. And there will be retards galore who will advice him to avail of insurance and get the car repaired from the authorized service station who will bring it back to its showroom condition.
Should he kill or maim other road users, the later and their dear ones will be left to brood for the rest of their life.

That's 3 kms of no road just before Sarchu while travelling from Pang to Sarchu and onwards to Manali in mid July 2021.
It took 1 hour to cross the 3 kms because of flying dust due to hectic road construction work which is on in full swing.
Pang to Sarchu is about 75 kms and takes 4 to 5 hrs to travel.

New year memorablias from Castrol between 1985 and 1992

Every December and January were the months to look forward to between 1985 and 1992 during my golden years in Indrol Lubricants and Specialities Ltd, which again was rechristened to Castrol India Ltd during the penultimate years of my stint with the company.
My stint in Castrol India was from 1985-08-12 to 1992-01-22.

It used to rain truly innovative New Year goodies for institutional buyers, dealers and executives.

I was there in our house in Behala, Kolkata on Tuesday, 2021-07-13 for lunch with Ma. Since I had ample free time, I was rummaging through my old drawers and tables and guess what I found.

I was delighted to find a few of those memorablias almost intact even after 29 years. Photos of more such giveaways 🎁✨will be brought to you'll once I find them.

Road trip by Asit Madeka to a Chaubara, a remote village near Saltora in rural West Bengal in July 2021

The places Asit Madeka, an Indian Roadie from Sitarampur, near Asansol in West Bengal has to visit for work are at times located in beautiful rural regions of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar. He drives a radius of 300 odd kms from Asansol pretty often.

On Thursday, 08-07-2021, Asit had to drive to a remote village called Chaubara in Bankura district in West Bengal. The village is located about 8 km from Saltora.

His route from Asansol was via Saltora. The entry to Saltora is from Sarbari More across the Barakar River bridge on Disergarh - Purulia road. The road to Saltora is riddled with large potholes every couple of kms.

The last 3 kms to Chaubara is just enthralling. It compensates the frustration of having to negotiate the broken patches. The beautiful road section of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojona (PMGSY) as roadies can make out from the orange coloured marker is seen in the accompanying video.

Summer vs Winter views from Kee/ Ki/ Key Monastery in the month of April 2019 and February 2020 by Rohit Mendiratta

Summer vs Winter views from Kee/ Ki/ Key Monastery, Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh, India in the month of April 2019 and February 2020. Both are spectacular and both have their own charm.

Do note the changes on the prayer flags and the top portion due to harsh elements of weather.
The first image from April 2019, has been my phone's wallpaper since then, and when I again visited in February 2020, I wanted to click the same view. I was searching for this view, and specially the flags mast, but could not identify it, till a Lama guided me to the spot.

Delhi - Beas (near Amritsar) - Delhi road trip of 820 kms on 2021-04-14 by Rohit Mendiratta

Update on the quick road trip Delhi - Beas (near Amritsar) - Delhi (820 kms) on 14-Apr-2021 by Rohit Mendiratta (www.facebook.com/rmendiratta) in his own words.

Started from Delhi (Shalimar Bagh) at 5.30am and were back by 8.15pm (same day) after completing the personal work at Beas. 4 gents in a Ford Endeavor, 3 gents drove.
Less Traffic on highway due to Covid.
Strict checking of masks by HR & PB police, specially for outstation vehicles - at barriers and crossings. We were in a DL registered vehicle.
Absolutely no toll on the entire route, thanks to the Farmers Agitation.
Speed Cameras in place at few places including the mobile ones.
Delhi border (Singhu) remains closed, the temporary structures by farmers are there, but less farmers. We used the interior roads to bypass the border, which was easier in early morning, but was a bit messy in the evening. Directions by Google Maps for this interior roads is not very accurate, as it led us to a dead end, but being early morning, we were able to find alternate road quickly. So, don't trust Google Maps blindly, use your instincts and ask the locals.

Never ever buy a pre-owned car from a pre-owned car dealer

Never ever buy a pre-owned car from a pre-owned car dealer even if he is your own brother or your own father-in-law.
Later on don't crib that that you lost heavily.
Buy directly from an actual owner after interacting with him in person.
It might take 6 - 9 months. It will be worth the wait.
Please don't ask me why.
That will involve too much of an explanation.
Even after hearing me out, today's know it all car experts working as techies in IT companies or as HR managers or as Finance Managers or lawyers or college professors have gone and bought from dealers and have cribbed and cribbed and cribbed.
Therefore, either accept my advice or trash it.
Note: True Value, Das Auto, Mahindra First Choice, etc are also pre-owned car dealers. Don't consider them either.

Cars are cars, bikes are bikes, beasts are beasts

Suddenly Detroit failed car/ bike experts from India (oooops, DUDES to be precise), who BREAK their machine on wheels to avoid knocking down every IDIOT dog or cow on the road have started terming their rides as 'BEASTS' for a new 'high in life' and to announce to the world that they have arrived.
I keep reading it everyday on social media.
Cars are cars and bikes are bikes irrespective of the brand.
Beasts are beasts.
The former, viz. cars/ bikes move on 4 or 2  wheels.
The later, viz. beasts move on 4 legs  ..... period!

After a gap of over 7 months I couldn't freely take my VW Vento out on 2020-10-29 because of insensitivity of the Dutta siblings of 66H

The Dutta brothers (Amiya and Arun) of Beliaghata, Kolkata had been purposely parking their cars WB06H1392 (Zen Estilo) and WB02Z3679 (Alto) in such a way that ingress and engress to and from my house was jeopardized. Their house situated at a T-junction is just two buildings away from our house.

Prior to January - February 2020, it was only the blue Alto which the younger brother Arun Dutta used to park where the Zen Estilo can be spotted in the attached videos. Ingress and engress was extremely challenging because the Alto used to be parked at the T junction in spite of the family owning a covered underground garage of their new house which they completed building around 2016-2017.

The running board on both sides of my VW Vento sedan has been severely damaged because of the stubborn act of the Dutta brothers. The alloy wheels of my car have deep scratches and the VW logo on the hub of an alloy was lost.  All this damage happened after my car grazed the stone cladding on the roadside quite a few times.
For atleast 2.5 years or more prior to the onset of the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown w.e.f 2020-03-23, I have politely requested them a couple of times to keep the blue car in the garage or elsewhere. My requests fell on deaf ears.

The elder brother Amiya Dutta bought the pre-owned Zen Estilo around January or February 2020.
From the first week of July 2020, the brothers started keeping both the cars outside on the road. They even encouraged the owner-driver of a white App Cab to park his Maruti Dzire (WB07J7794)  diagonally opposite my house on the narrow road.
On 2020-10-29 at 2.45 pm, I (Deep Banerjee) tried to take my VW Vento out, first time after 2020-03-23, i.e. after start of lockdown in West Bengal. I was driving to the car workshop because the reverse gear of my car was not engaging.

I got stuck because there was no way I could have taken my car out.
It took Arun Dutta over 2 minutes to respond to my continuous honking. His reply standing on the upper floor terrace was "horn dilei gaari shore jaabe na" (my car is not going to move automatically by your continuous honking). I could drive my car out only after he came down a few minutes later and backed up the Zen Estilo.

Friends, imagine yourself in my place and tell me honestly if any of you'll would have tolerated this stubborn nonsense of a neighbour. Would any of you'll have tolerated the damage of your own car because of no fault of yours!

What's even more scary is that in the event of exigencies or an emergency, the irresponsible act of the Duttas who are totally bereft of any civic sense can turn out to be fatal for me or my dear ones.

Torrential rain in Kolkata on 2021-07-07 afternoon and the position of my 66H neighbour's Zen Estilo WB06H1392

The sweltering heat and high humidity in Kolkata made life miserable till early afternoon on Wednesday, 2021-07-07. It was a big relief as dark clouds started gathering till it became pitch dark inside my 1st floor apartment located a stone's throw away, south of Subhash Sarovar.
From 2.35 pm it started raining cats and dogs with accompanying thunder squalls.
It's such a relief that there will be no waterlogging whatsoever outside my house.
It's 3.15 pm and still raining incessantly since the past 40 minutes.
Kolkata must have transformed into a huge lake by now. The resultant misery for residents is difficult to explain in words 😩
Roadies in Kolkata, how are you'll doing?
Can only pray that you return home safe and sound.

* Mishap And Calamity
.

P.S: Also note the position of the Zen Estilo (WB06H1392) belonging to Amiya Dutta, the elder of the two siblings, viz. Amiya and Arun. They are my selfish neighbors, 2 buildings away. With some caution, the ingress and engress to/ from my house will be comparatively stress free.

That's how the Dutta siblings of 66H parked their cars on 2020-10-29 at 6.27 pm

That's how the Dutta brothers, viz. Amiya and Arun parked their cars on the barely 12 - 13 odd feet road (lane), near Subhas Sarovar Swimming Pool in Kolkata at 6.27 pm on 2020-10-29.

Inspite of having their own garage at the basement of their stylishly reconstructed house, they prefer to park their cars, viz. Maruti Zen Estilo (WB06H1392) and Maruti Alto (WB02Z3679) anywhere they feel like without caring a hoot about the difficulties they create for other neighbours.

The ingress and engress to the lane leading to my own house gets jeopardized because of their selfish behavior. I shudder to think of a situation if there's any exigency in any of the 6 houses including mine, other than 66H which happens to be their own house!

Does anyone think that a Mahindra Bolero ambulance or a guest having Ford Ecosport/ Hyundai Creta/ Renault Duster/ Kia Seltos/ Mahindra XUV 300/ Mahindra XUV 500 can reach my house with ease. I am not even talking of a small sized fire tender lorry 😩

Multiple requests to the siblings to be more humane have fallen on deaf ears 😡

Illegal red, blue beacons and stickers openly available in Mullick Bazaar, Kolkata

It's so phenomenally easy to buy a blue or red beacon light to be fitted on roofs of cars and removed in a few seconds if needed. The cost involved is only a couple of hundred rupees.
Windshield stickers are tailor made to customer's needs.
The business continues unabated in the automobile spares market in Mullick Bazaar in Kolkata.
Ever since 2021-06-22 when the fake IAS came to light, there's a tsunami of fake government officials who are tumbling out of the closet.
Watch how easy it is to procure beacons and fake stickers from Mullick Bazaar.
Also watch how the Administrative Head of Kolkata Municipal Corporation - cum -  Minister talks and shrugs off responsibility.

People in the frames crossing a makeshift bridge in WB are no lesser roadies in their own ways

The people in the frames are no lesser roadies in their own ways.

The first of the two photos shows a group of women returning home after a hard day's work trudging over a narrow rickety bridge over a river somewhere in Hooghly district in West Bengal. The child at home couldn't hold back his joy on seeing his mother returning home. He makes a dash towards his mother throwing all cautions to wind.

The second picture marks the beginning of another new and hard day for the roadies pushing their bicycles over the same bridge.

I can cook chicken while leading a vanlife

I am fully prepared for 2 - 3 weeks of enjoyable #vanlife. I will surely not starve. Read on  .....

Alone in Pune in my sprawling 4BHK apartment on the hillside while it poured outside, experimented and completed cooking a chicken 🐔 all by (and for) myself 1st time ever for dinner a little after midnight in the wee hours of 4th July 2013.
Laid my achievement on the dining table straight from the induction heater and WhatsApp'ed the photo to wife and daughter near Salt Lake Stadium and woke up Baba/ Ma in Behala to tell them what I had just completed doing.
Devoured the whole quantity (approximately 1100 gms) within 2 consecutive dinners.
The taste was simply WOW!!!
Turned out to be lip smacking.
Found it hard to believe that it was my workmanship.

Recipe: Cut chicken (approximately 1100 gms) plus my cognitive abilities in small doses as the stuff simmered on the induction heater.

Difficulty index: Believe in me, the entire process from washing the cut chicken to digesting the creation can be insanely easy if you are HighOnCognition (which means, always 'expect the unexpected') like a true 'Indian Roadie'.

Some of those celebrity chefs and loudmouth vloggers will be out of business anyday. Really feeling sorry for those poor guys and ladies 😉
