Dumb vlogger testing the automatic emergency braking feature in Mahindra XUV700

Mahindra XUV700 has an automatic emergency braking feature. Here's one video of a dumb vlogger testing out the efficacy of the feature. Fortunately, he is still breathing as in mid January 2022.
It's only a matter of time before we get to see sizeable number of XUV700 sandwiched under moving or stationary trucks or any other obstacles on highways. Lots and lots of Detroit returned automobile experts will try out the feature (as if it's a playing object). If at all the dumb drivers come out  unscathed, Mr. Anand Mahindra will be showered with thanks!

Kolkata Kite String Menace on Maa Flyover. Mishap on 2022-01-14

Glass coated kite strings (said to have its origin in China) have grievously injured numerous bikers on Maa Flyover in the past couple of years.
On 2022-01-14, the kite string maanja menace left a lady riding pillion, bleeding profusely from her nose.
Kolkata Police is still battling to put a final stop to the menace.

Car owners (in Kolkata and elsewhere in India) who encourage their passengers to stick their heads out from open sun roofs of moving cars should learn about the potential danger lurking ahead!

Glow Plug MIL of my VW Vento 1.6 TDi (2011) lit up on 2022-01-15

The Glow Plug MIL of my VW Vento 1.6 TDi (2011) started glowing suddenly after 12 minutes of engine idling at 1.20 pm on 2022-01-15.
The Check Engine MIL did not light up. There was no drop in RPM either while revving the engine in neutral gear, the video has proof of that.
I am baffled. Need to scan the ECU with an OBD2 tool.

Engine noise of my VW Vento 1.6 TDi (2011) on 2022-01-15 after injectors were serviced

VW Vento TDi 1.6 is known to have a noisy engine.
My Vento is of January 2011 and has clocked 44502 kms. On 2021-10-29, I got all the 4 injectors serviced and the sensors replaced at a very competent Indian Roadie Preferred Workshop in Kolkata. In May 2015, I had 2 injectors serviced.
The attached video recorded on 2022-01-15 is to give you an idea of how smooth the engine has become and also the great extent to which the noise and vibration has reduced after servicing the injectors.

P.S: It would be worthwhile to mention that by the time the idea of recording the videos dawned into me, the engine had already idled for exactly 10 minutes after a cold start. Moments before I started recording the videos, the radiator fan had started. The engine RPM had increased to 1000 from the usual 750. If I would have started the recording process even 1 minute earlier, the decibel would have been a few notches lesser!

Members who refuse to be involved in Indian Roadie must evict themselves from my initiatives

For the records ..... there's never a word written by quite a few people from West Bengal (and a few more from rest of India) about their road trips and automobile related content in Indian Roadie.
It is being noticed for quite some time! It's time for me to expose the bluff.

After reading the whole verse, if you remotely feel that I am hinting at you, you are bang on! Yes, it's you.
Every such person who feel that it could be you that I am hinting at and have got furious after reading the whole text, please hold your hand to your heart and swear by your children or your parents and say that it's a trash post.

Like it or not, let me spell it out that it's a deliberate act on their part. If sharing of blog links/ YouTube links are not allowed, that's the rule. Since 2007-08, I have been spending 10 - 40 hours a month on enriching myself with knowledge about social media ethics. I myself am present in hundreds of forums. I myself never 'share' by clicking on the share button. I post directly in various forums. I know that I get intellectually rich by posting my knowledge in every social media platform/ initiative, irrespective of those being my own or not. That's my style of enhancing my Personal Branding And Reputation Management.

Social Media is a mirror reflection of a person's real time ethos and behavior.

Yours truly has earned his crumbs of bread reading and acting on behavioral traits of people throughout his life ever since his Summer Internship with a paints major in May - July 1984 during his b-school days.

Please shape up or ship out.
Your contribution in the past or your personal rapport with me is not a passport for your good times to continue.
I refuse to drive forward with people on a one way street. Let's part ways so that we can live in peace.

Bluntly speaking, it's my time/ my resources!

Road trip from Bangalore to Kolkata by Palas Panja in Maruti Ciaz in December 2021

Bangalore to Kolkata (Bangalore_Kolkata) road trip by Indian Roadie Palas Panja with wife and daughter in December 2021.

End : Kolkata (Behala), West Bengal on 12th December 2021 evening.
Total Distance Covered : 1927 Kms.

Vehicle : Maruti Suzuki Ciaz ZXI (Manual)

Halts : Palm beach Hotel, Vizag (Day 1), Swosti Premium, Bhubaneshwar (Day 2), Kolkata /Home(Day 3).

Total toll : INR 2,061 (Only INR 10 in cash at Vidyasagar Setu, rest all on FastTag)
Fastag from : PayTM
RTPCR checks : None in hotels of stay or at the borders
C19 Vaccination check : None in hotels or stay or at the state borders
Enroute Fueling points : Nellore (GX9Q+72 Nellore, Andhra Pradesh), Vishakapatnam(P8CC+62 Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh) and Cuttack(GWFR+Q4R Manguli Chowk, Odisha)

Total Fuel : ~INR 11,700/-
Mileage :  ~17.2 KMPL

Day 1 : Started from Bangalore around 9:15 PM.. The roads all the way up to Tirupati was awesome and good speed can be maintained. The stretch from Tirupati (via Srikalahasti, Renigunta) to Naidupeta which is about 70 Kms is single lane and had some potholes and uneven patch work being done which will tend to slow down the pace to a bit.  Post Naidupeta the roads become smooth again.
At Eluru, right after the Garuda Food Court, we took a left'ish turn on to the Kovurru Road/GNT Road (newly built) and reached Rajahmundry in no time. The road at the entrance to Rajahmundry is kind of messed up and gets better as we cross the Godavari into the city. From Rajahmundry to Vizag the roads are good and quite picturesque.

Reached our hotel in Vizag around 15:00 hrs and had to settle down quickly for some evening meetings.  (advantages of WFH)

At the KA-AP border the cops did stop and asked us something which we did not understand and so they let us pass.

Day 2 : Started from Vizag around 11:30 AM (this was planned this way) and the roads up to Srikakulam was smooth except for some diversions due to construction of flyovers around the Srikakulam city. The roads are good till AP. Once you reach OD there are diversions which starts and goes all the way upto Bhubaneswar city.. The local traffic of OD is very unpredictable.. u might encounter a lot of roadies traveling in opposite direction. We did not halt anywhere on the way for lunch as we did a heavy and late breakfast at the hotel. This way we save a lot of time by avoiding a long break.

Reached hotel around 19:00 hrs (had to face some amount of traffic inside the city of Bhubaneswar)

At the AP-OD border the cops were busy having lunch.. no one bothered when I crossed.

Day 3 : Started from BBSR around 11:30 AM. The roads from Cuttack till Balasore are no good..there are multiple diversions (for flyover constructions…about close to 50 of them) which can get very stressful for many. At the diversions they will either route you to the other side of the highway or to a service road. The service roads are not that well maintained at places and numerous bumps to top it all.  Another observation is very frequently the highway crossed those small culvert and the joining/smoothing/leveling work of the road and the culvert is very shoddy…the car gets a real jolt if one is at a good speed. Bad for your back as well.  Once you cross Balasore and head towards Jaleswar/Datan the road got better and better all the way. However those who will cover the Kharagpur to Kolkata stretch of NH16 post sunset (it gets darker sooner in this part of the country) please chose to drive on the middle lane as much as you can. At various points (where you have a village intersection) there are barricades placed which DO NOT have the light reflectors attached and becomes difficult to detect at night.

Reached home around 20:00 hrs....(faced the usual Kolkata evening traffic as usual)

At the OD-WB border, there were a couple of trucks in queue and the cops were busy in hafta collection.. I took advantage of that situation and just drove past. No questions asked there too.

Indian Roadie Pats76 Alumni GTG at Durgapur on 2011-01-09

How time flies!

It was on 2011-01-09, 11 years ago that we childhood buddies/ St. Patrick's HS School, Asansol  batchmates of ICSE December 1976 met up in Durgapur at a nice resort on the Damodar riverfront for a sumptuous lunch at a 'social do' initiated by Sandip Samanta.

The GTG was hosted by Sandip Samanta to celebrate his 50th birthday with friends.

It was a same day Kolkata - Durgapur - Kolkata drive of 400 kms/ 6.30 am - 10.30 pm with wife and daughter in my Maruti Esteem VXi.

Indian Roadie was not even in my dreams then. Indian Roadie was born more than 2 years later. Today in January 2022 all my buddies are regular followers of my initiative.

Day 4 (26.10.2020): Jaipur (local sightseeing).
After breakfast we went for local sightseeing. Stopped at Hawa Mahal and Jal Mahal and proceeded to Jaigarh Fort.
Jaigarh Fort is situated on the promontory called the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) of the Aravalli range. It overlooks the Amer Fort and the Maota Lake, near Amer in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. The fort was built by Jai Singh II in 1726 to protect the Amer Fort and its palace complex and was named after him.
The fort, rugged and similar in structural design to the Amer Fort, is also known as Victory Fort. It has a length of 3 kilometres  along the north–south direction and a width of 1 kilometre (0.62 mi). The fort features a cannon named "Jaivana"(Jaivana Cannon), which was manufactured in the fort precincts and was then the world's largest cannon on wheels. Jaigarh Fort and Amer Fort are connected by subterranean passages and considered as one complex.
We had our lunch in the restaurant at Jaigarh Fort.

Nahargarh Fort stands on the edge of the Aravalli Hills, overlooking the city of Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Along with Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh once formed a strong defense ring for the city. The fort was originally named sudarshangarh, but it became known as Nahargarh, which means 'abode of tigers'. The popular belief is that Nahar here stands for Nahar Singh Bhomia, whose spirit haunted the place and obstructed construction of the fort. Nahar's spirit was pacified by building a temple in his memory within the fort, which thus became known by his name. Sunset from here is just awesome.
Nahargarh fort is open from 10:00 a.m. and the gates of the fort closes in the evening at 10.00 p.m. The visitors are not advised to stay any later than that because the fort is surrounded by dense deciduous forest.

Amer Fort or Amber Fort is a fort located in Amer, Rajasthan, India. Amer is a town with an area of 4 square kilometres. The town of Amer and the Amber Fort were originally built by the Meenas, and later it was ruled by Raja Man Singh I. Located high on a hill, it is the principal tourist attraction in Jaipur.[3][4] Amer Fort is known for its artistic style elements. With its large ramparts and series of gates and cobbled paths, the fort overlooks Maota Lake, which is the main source of water for the Amer Palace.
Mughal architecture greatly influenced the architectural style of several buildings of the fort. Constructed of red sandstone and marble, the attractive, opulent palace is laid out on four levels, each with a courtyard. It consists of the Diwan-e-Aam, or "Hall of Public Audience", the Diwan-e-Khas, or "Hall of Private Audience", the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool climate is artificially created by winds that blow over a water cascade within the palace. Hence, the Amer Fort is also popularly known as the Amer Palace.
The palace was the residence of the Rajput Maharajas and their families. At the entrance to the palace near the fort's Ganesh Gate.
On the right side of the Jalebi Chowk, there is a small but an elegant temple called the Sila Devi temple (Sila Devi was an incarnation of Kali or Durga). The entrance to the temple is through a double door covered in silver with a raised relief. The main deity inside the sanctum is flanked by two lions made of silver. The legend attributed to the installation of this deity is that Maharaja Man Singh sought blessings from Kali for victory in the battle against the Raja of Jessore in Bengal.

A famous pilgrimage site of the Oswal Jain community, most of the shrines and temples in Osian lie in ruins today. Among the most famous tourist attractions of the village are the 16 temples that include Sachiya Mata temple, Sun temple, Mahaveera Jain temple, etc dating back to the 8th to the 11th century. With their intricate carvings, the Sun Temple, Sachiya Mata Temple and the Jain temple dedicated to Lord Mahavir stand out in their grace and architecture. We reached Jodhpur around 1 pm and went directly to Mehrangarh Fort, it is one of the largest forts in India. Built in around 1459 by Rao Jodha, the fort is situated 410 feet (125 m) above the city and is enclosed by imposing thick walls. Inside its boundaries there are several palaces known for their intricate carvings and expansive courtyards. A winding road leads to and from the city below. The imprints of the impact of cannonballs fired by attacking armies of Jaipur can still be seen on the second gate. To the left of the fort is the chhatri of Kirat Singh Soda, a soldier who fell on the spot defending Mehrangarh.
There are seven gates, which include Jayapol (meaning 'victory gate'), built by Maharaja Man Singh to commemorate his victories over Jaipur and Bikaner armies. There is also a Fattehpol (also meaning 'victory gate'), which commemorates Maharaja Ajit Singhji victory over Mughals.
The museum in the Mehrangarh fort is one of the most well-stocked museums in Rajasthan. Had our lunch in the Fort restaurant.

Occupied until the late 19th century, the fort is now open to the public and is spectacularly lit for a few minutes each evening. It was the most important fort in Mewar after Chittorgarh Fort. Birthplace of Maharana Pratap.

Chittorgarh is home to the Chittor Fort, the largest fort in India and Asia. It was the site of three major sieges (1303, 1535, and 1567–1568) by Muslim invaders, and its Hindu rulers fought fiercely to maintain their independence. On more than one occasion, when faced with a certain defeat, the men fought to death while the women committed suicide by jauhar (mass self-immolation). Chittor also has been a land of worship for Meera, It is also known for Panna Dai – Left Udaipur around 9 am after breakfast and reached Udaipur around 11 am, the best part visiting Chittorgarh fort is you can drive through the fort road.
