Bangalore to Kochi via Coimbatore road trip on 2020-07-14 by Mahesh Nrk

Mahesh Nrk, an IT professional drove from Bangalore to Kochi, Kerala during the 1st wave of Covid pandemic in 14th July 2020 in personal car.

Started Bangalore at 7:30 am and reached Kochi around 4:45 PM.

The whole journey was hassle free.

Had printed out 2 copies of Kerala Epass and TN transit pass. Stuck one copy on the car windscreen. Kept the other with him.

Below are some main points

1. No check happened inside Banaglore.

2. At Zuzuvadi (Krishnagiri dist) checkpost where you enter TN, one person has to get down with the TN transit pass and give in the counter for entering the details.

3. There are lot of checkpoints after that (but most of them will just note down your vehicle number and ask for source and destination) who check and leave you. Whether one person has to get down and show the pass depends on the officials on duty.

4. He had to get down at Kariamangalam and when Mahesh told them that he was driving to Kerala they let him go without checking pass.

5. At Coimbatore when you exit, again only one person has to get down and give the details to counter.

6. Reached Walayar around 1:30 PM. There were only 2 people ahead of him in queue.

NOTE : Look for the counter with less / no people. Don't just follow people.

Its ok for only one person in the family to stand in the queue and others can stand a little far from people to maintain distance. Once you are in the counter, others can join just for temperature reading.

If you have infants and senior citizen, first one person can get out of the car and ask the officials for a seperate queue or give some guidance.

Whole process was finished under 15 mins for me.

7. One check post while entering Thrissur Dist where again one passenger has to get down and give the details of you travel to official.

8. There were no further check posts till Kochi.
