This expressway will run in drought prone backward areas of South India (including north Karnataka and Rayalseema region of Andhra Pradesh) connecting those to major commercial hubs between Surat and Chennai port. The 1271 kms long expressway will reduce time of travel from current 35 hrs to just about 18 hrs.
These are the kind of infrastructure projects which will start easing population growth around a handful of towns and cities only. People will stop flocking to big towns and cities as amenities start improving on both sides of the eways. The benefits will start accruing and reach maximum momentum after 15 - 20 years. Returns will not be immediate.
