Pune Porsche car crash - Grandfather of accused teenager arrested


Pune Police on Saturday 2024-05-25 morning arrested Surendra Agarwal, the grandfather of the 17-year-old boy who fatally rammed his Porsche car into two IT professionals on a bike at Kalyani Nagar, Pune at around 2.30 am on 2024-05-19. 

Surendra Agarwal has been accused of "wrongful confinement" of their family driver, Gangaram, threatening him and forcing him to give statements to the police that he was driving the Porsche during the accident that killed Aneesh Awadhiya and his partner Ashwini Koshta. 

It was found he, along with kid's parents, had threatened family driver to give statements taking the blame for the accident. The teenager's father Vishal Agarwal has also been named in this case, the official said. 

On a complaint by the family driver of the juvenile, the Yerawada police have registered a separate offence against the teen's grandfather and father under IPC sections 365 (kidnapping with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine a person) and 368 (wrongfully concealing or keeping in confinement), he said.
