Kochi New Bypass and more infrastructure projects will be rolled out in Kerala

Government of Kerala has published the government order exempting Kochi New Bypass project from GST and Royalty fees.
Central Government will spend the entire amount for land acquisition and construction, while Kerala Government will waive off entire charges related to GST and Royalty from this project. The same conditions are applicable for the proposed Kollam - Shenkottai greenfield highway as well.

Now with all decks cleared, National Highways Authority of India - NHAI can proceed with the important project. The immediate next step is to publish the 3A notification for the ~45 kilometer long 6 lane greenfield highway, which will come under NH544.

The Kochi New Bypass will begin from Karayamparambu (north of Angamaly) and end at NH 66 near Nettoor (south of Kundanoor). At Nettoor, this highway will join the proposed 17-km long 6-lane Edappally - Aroor elevated highway. The upcoming Kochi Port highway corridor (NH966B) will also begin from this very same junction.

Moreover, the Kochi New Bypass will act as the starting point for two more proposed greenfield highways :
1) Kochi - Theni NH85 greenfield highway (Economic Corridor),
2) Kochi - Thiruvananthapuram new greenfield highway parallel to MC road.

The new bypass will also provide more connectivity to Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), by passing right aside it on its eastern side.
