Drove Indore to Rajkot and back in December 2021.
Route updates are as follows :
Indore to Jhabua to MP Border via Dhar, Rajgarh: Good road with a lot of patchwork. Indore to Rajgarh is 4 laned, As the Rajgarh bypass ends the road converges to a 2 Lane road of approx. 10 kms in length. It passes through desolate stretches and some villages. After this patch road is 4 laned for another 7 kms after which it converges to a 2 lane road and immediately Machhaliya Ghat starts.
This ghat is very unsafe at nights. There is a convoy system at nights after 10-11 pm till 5-6 am.
Pass this ghat in convoy always. Although alot of people I know donot follow convoy and pass without following convoy after 10-11 pm and have never been attacked. TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Recently, 15 days ago few teenagers travelling in Audi were attacked on this ghat section at 10AM in morning on a desolate stretch.
After this ghat ends the road is 4 laned till MP-GJ border. Exceptions being a few stretches of 500 mts which are still 2 Lane. Donot stop anywhere except Dhabas or Hotels between Rajgarh and MP-GJ border.
Jhabua to Dahod to Godhra to Kathlal to Nadiad to Bagodara to Rajkot :
As soon as Gujarat starts road is cemented 4 Lane till Godhra. No night problems here. After Godhra road is patchy and uneven but drivable at 90-100 kmph.
At Kathlal we took diversionn towards Bagodara via Nadiad. Road till Nadiad is 2 Lane excellent tarmac. Traffic is medium in day time.
Nadiad to Kheda is 6 lane Mumbai Ahmedabad highway for some 20 kms.
In Kheda you take diversion towards Bagodara, Kheda till Bagodara 4 Laning is in process though most of the work is complete still there are 2 Lane patchy sections on this route 80-90 kmph can be maintained. Traffic is medium to high in day time.
In Bagodara we rejoined Ahmedabad to Rajkot highway which is being 6 laned. There are diversions which are very smooth and one does not need to slow down too much on this diversions. Road is patchy in sections when we are on old 4 lane. This continues till Rajkot. Traffic is medium, speeds of 80-100 kmph can be maintained.
From Rajkot We went to Sarangpur Hanuman Temple via Atkot and Botad :
Road is patchy 4 laned till 30-40 kms (Bhavnagar - Rajkot highway) till Atkot. After Atkot road is bad till Botad. Avoid this road. Instead take Rajkot to Ahmedabad Highway till Limbdi and then take turn towards Sarangpur.
While returning from Sarangpur we took Sarangpur to Barwala to Dhandhuka to Fedara to Bagodara route. Excellent roads till Bagodara.
After Bagodara till Indore we took same route.
Time taken :
Indore to Rajkot : Started at 5.15 AM and reached Rajkot by 2.00 pm
While returning from Sarangpur to Indore :
Started at 8.00 AM and reached Indore by 4.30 pm.
