The Facebook Reel shows a police officer stopping a Toyota Innova with private registration plate (black letters on white background) which has a roof luggage carrier installed in it. The video clearly shows the police officer telling the driver that should any policeman in any state stop a car with private registration plate (like ours in Indian Roadie and associated forums) for penalizing us, we roadies will have the liberty to ask the officers on duty to ask for the Motor Vehicle Act section under which a luggage carrier is considered illegal in a privately registered passenger car within India.
Incidentally, the police officer in the video is a popular face on social media.
This video will leave a lot of us (including myself) confused. Can someone care to clarify if luggage carriers on roofs of privately registered vehicles are indeed legal 🤔🤔🤔🤔
For quite some time we roadies were under the impression that luggage carriers are/were legal in passenger cars with commercial registration plates only.
What exactly are the Indian Roadie Police Directives 🤔
