Fellow roadie Ram Goyel was back on Samruddhi Mahamarg for the 5th time in November 2023. He drove the full stretch from Igatpuri to Nagpur The following are some observations in his own words.
Speed limit is 100 kmph till Shirdi, not sure why. After that it's 120 again.
Some rumblers have been installed near the exit points which is a good move actually to allow incoming vehicles to join in, though there is enough space.
Lots of bird kills apart from a boar and dog. Also saw a mongoose and monkey and pack of 4 dogs cross the road.
1 HPCL petrol pump near Shirdi exit was out of petrol and the next one came after almost 140 kms. Huge distance gap between these 2 pumps. Some food joint has opened serving limited foods + biscuits + chips.
Bathroom conditions have deteriorated quite a bit from March 2023.
Air filling stations are not manned, and the attendants are not bothered or helpful. So check that tyre pressure beforehand.
Total Toll amount was ₹ 1,040 from Igatpuri (Bharvir Khurd) to Nagpur.
Lots of car traffic on Igatpuri to Aurangabad stretch. Almost 50% less after that till Nagpur. Did not see any speeding or rash driving, but did see lots of people driving at 100 kmph in the overtaking lane. They should ideally be in the middle lane.
Everyone must drive carefully and stay below the maximum permissible speed limit. Take regular breaks to stretch and grab that coffee.
