Road trip from Thrissur to Ooty (Thrissur_Ooty) n 2021-12-17. Roads from Thrissur to Walayar is in excellent shape. All the potholes are patched up and some of stretches are newly laid. This is a fast strech now. 10 years ago it took a minimum of 2 hours to reach Palakkad from Thrissur. It took him under 1 hour. Only pain point in this strech is single lane Kuthiran tunnel which is now converted into two lanes, so if roadies are stuck behind a truck, there is no space to overtake till one exits the tunnel.
Road condition from Walayar to Mettupalayam is also in good condition. Our fellow roadie took the Kotagiri route to Ooty. Superb well marked roads with thin traffic all the way upto Ooty. Stopped for a while at A2B restaurant in Mettupalayam. It had clean washrooms and good food.
Carry heavy woolen clothes. It was 10 degrees at 9 am on 2021-12-18.
