Don't distort facts while seeking insurance claims

People post half baked queries with photo(s) of their damaged car after an accident in various social media forums and seek advice on what to do next or seek for advice on insurance claims, etc.

Members in those forums who behave like Detroit returned car experts start commenting in hordes. Most of the comments lack substance and reasonings.

My suggestion as the founder of Indian Roadie and associated forums is as follows:

Be honest to the core in expressing yoursef. Take your time and write/ post what exactly happened. Also, when, where and how it happened.
Were you in an inebriated state?
Don't distort facts. If you distort facts you will land yourself in an even more unpleasant situation. Bluffing might not only result in denial of insurance claims but can also land one in a police lock up or even worse.

It's only after the person expresses himself/ herself candidly, can (s)he expect to get some reasonably correct advice from people who are knowledgeable enough.

Disclaimer: It's extremely difficult to comment if the vehicle will be considered a total loss or if it's advisable to seek insurance claims or the extent of reimbursement by insurance companies or what would be the repair expenses without being on the spot, or without physical inspection.
