Road trip to Burul, Falta, Diamond Harbour by Debasish Hazra in end June 2021

Road trip to Burul, Falta, Diamond Harbour  ..... picturesque places along the Hooghly River in South 24 Parganas district, adjoining the southeast fringes of Kolkata in end June 2021.

Drive along Diamond Harbour Road from Majerhat Bridge/ New Alipore/ Taratala crossing to Behala Tram Depot and onwards to Thakurpukur Bazaar. Exit DH Road and turn right at Thakurpukur Bazaar. Start driving on narrow Bakrahat Road with a reasonably good road surface. Drive past Rasapunja (Gems Akademia School, Praxis Business School), Samali, Bibirhat upto Raipur (Hooghly river bank).
Enroute one will cross innumerable nurseies. One can also stop for a few minutes to explore the Baba Bara Kutchery Mandir.

From Raipur turn left left and start driving on the narrow, almost empty but enchanting road towards Burul. It's green all around with the wide river visible all along on the right. The beauty needs to be seen to believe it. The black top road surface is unbelievably good.
One will cross quite a few resorts and picnic spots right upto Burul.

Keep driving along the river right upto Falta.

From Falta, exit the riverbank road and drive to Raichak or Diamond Harbour, if one feels like. Spend some leisurely moments on the river bank in Diamond Harbour or have a cup of coffee at WBTDC owned Sagarika Lodge before deciding to drive back to Kolkata.

While returning to Kolkata, one can stop over for an hour to explore the exquisite carvings of Swaminarayan Temple in Pailan, off DH Road.

Distances:
Taratala crossing to Thakurpukur Bazaar = 7 kms/ 20 mins.
Thakurpukur Bazaar to Raipur (Hooghly River ferry ghat) = 21 kms/ 50 mins.
Raipur (Hooghly River ferry ghat) to Burul = 7 kms/ 20 mins.
