Easy Zanskar Map for all.🌷🇮🇳🌷
I have created this simple JPEG map of all three axis to reach Padum HQ of Zanskar in Ladakh. One can go and return from any route depending upon their preference.I have travelled on all three routes by a car, scooter and motorcycles in 2011, 2012, 2019, 2021and 2022.
Few important points are listed below:
1...If you take Manali route and start your journey at Manali,then end your journey at Purney village. Next day start Phugtal gompa trek early morning at 7 AM and return to Purne village and proceed towards Padum. If you don't want to trek to Phugtal monastery then I recommend you to spend a night at Jispa. Next day cover Jispa-Padum in a day.
2... Kargil to Padum can be done in a single day but it's recommended to break your journey at Rangdum for night stay. Kargil to Rangdum is 120 km. Keep the pace slow and soak in the beauty of Suru valley. Next day, start after BF and visit Rangdum gompa,spend some time at Penzi la pass and Drang Drung glacier. There are few enchanting lakes near Penzi la pass.
3... About Lamayuru axis.Its recommended that you begin your journey at Lamayuru. Initial 40-50 kms are smooth road after that road worsen.There is an eatery at Photoksar village for lunch. You must have fuel for 200-225 kms before starting from Lamayuru.
Lingshed village is slightly 3-4 kms off the main route.
